  • Strip it to raw.

  • Yeah! They're brilliant cranks, pretty cheap but still swishy looking enough.

  • Nice to see a Cinelli without derailleurs.

  • woops!

    Looks nice :)

  • Chainring arrived, bike computer arrived, have a different rear tyre and different stem / handlebar set-up from most recent picture. GET READY GUYS!

Yeah, the Showe is looking good after a bit of rain, isn't it!

(woops! totally missed the forum string, found the thread in a search! sorry..!)

  • No probs :) Always nice to see nice bikes.

  • Rest of the stuff for my Dolan should arrive Tuesday, bit later than expected

  • Dose any one here know of any one local who could weld a rear mech hanger on a steel frame?

I'm able to cut off a mech hanger from a scrap frame for free, i just need it welded on (that should be possible right?)

  • sounds possible, ill ask my mate who welded my frame when it snapped ?

  • Doesn't Lae do some welding or something? If not, Lee Cooper might be an (expensive?) option...

What sort of drop out is it? Would something like this work?

  • I'd do it but my welding gear is at my parents' house in Essex. I'm really busy at the moment, but after Easter I'm gonna start practising my brazing and framebuilding skills - so I might be able to help you in six weeks or so.

One of those bolt-on things will work fine, though - lots of bikes still use them, they're just a bit fiddly if you have to remove the wheel.

  • I was looking for hours for that lil' hanger! i knew they existed but i couldn't find one at all, yes i think it would work

its for my guerciotti (the one with the basket) from its hard life its lost a mech hanger, but i would like to put some gears on it

When its bolted with that little 10mm bolt they are not a problem, just not sure my drop out is long enough to do that

if its possible to get it welded that would be really great

  • lewis have you got your gazelle up and running yet ??

  • I've got stuff welded at metal fabricators/engineers shops before for less than the cost of a bolt-on hanger. You've gotta make sure it goes on straight though. Some car welders will do little jobs like this, too, if you do the prep first.

Gazelle's almost up and running - I'm stupidly busy at the moment so I'm doing about 15 minutes a day... tonight I'll polish up the seatpost.

Excellent! It's purely by chance that I was reading a thread elsewhere about adding a mech hanger that I know about that (I think it was the Pompino thread).

  • Thanks for the help, ill give it some thought

  • Shot a photo of my Planet X with it's new forks:

  • haha, you up for a ride this weekend then lewis provided you get it done in time ??

  • I don't really have the time I'm afraid. Design interview on Monday then a university project in on the 30th... I should be okay after then, though.

  • ahh k, jus let us know when your free and we'll all go for a cruise !!!

  • Glad you got it sorted. Look forward to seeing it in the flesh.

  • those lugs on the head tube are so cool!
