    Boo Broadribbs

  • And so it begins...

Forks arrived today, as did toe straps, headset and track cog. Buying cranks at the weekend, and I've got to strip the paint work too. Looking forward to doing that, as i think its chromed underneath the rattle can paint job.

  • Looking good Steve!

  • TomD from the B'ham forum has kindly given me a selection of old seat posts to try out in my frame, and see if I can sort out the miss-shaped clamp area. I couldn't get a 26.8 in, so used an old post with the old style narrow top (for clamping on the saddle cluster thingy) to bash into the frame carefully, while I used a screw driver to prise apart the seat clamp. It's better than it was, but needs some more "adjustment". Thanks for the tip on using a seat post in this way Marcus!

Oh, and I stripped most of the paint off. The paint underneath the rattle can spray job was pretty much destroyed. The previous owner had sanded a lot of it off. I could see, however, that it was a beautiful duck egg blue colour, and some areas of quite a dark blue. I'm considering seeing if I can find a similar egg shell colour and maybe painting the head tube/lining the lugs with it. But then, this is supposed to be a bit of a rat bike so that sort of goes against that idea!

  • maybe you can carefully sand down to the origanal paint as much as possible? then clear coat it, i think it would look quite cool
