Looking good Apollo. You keeping the stickers on?
@AngelD: Omniums look good on any build too, but don't work with all chainrings (see the Omnium with FSA example one page back). You're right though, Sugino cranks look good on practically any build, with the bonus of working with all sorts of different chainrings in all sizes.
I'll have to post pics of the Giant when I receive and install the cranks. I think (my bank account hopes) that this may be the last big spend for a while.

You make a very valid point, hadn't thought about Omniums and other chainrings, and need to as hoping to slowly up the gearing as muscle strength increases.
Is the not working 'with all chainrings' purely an aesthetic thing?
Because I know that some of the SRAM MTB cranks don't play well with others due to different sizing.
And then there's their stupid 3 bolt cranks, just daft...

• #8561
surely you would reduce cog size rather than up the ring ?!?!
-
• #8562
Not unless you wanna do it the dumbass way.
-
• #8563
I think the best way is to progress 2-3 gear inches at a time, which generally means a mix of chainring and SPROCKET (being pedantic, but its not a cog) changes to achieve smaller increases to reduce damage to joints and muscles, just as you would doing weights or other forms of exercise. :P

It's especially true with cycling as the damage that can be done to the knees can be quite serious.
-
• #8565
If you start to push 100 RPM on a fairly regular basis, then time to up it a bit.
-

It is a cog.
a track cog.
Either a 47, 49 or 53 ring, and go mad on cogs.
maaaaaaad on cogs.
Don't listen to him, 100 rpm is cruising.
-
• #8567
I was talking from an aesthetic viewpoint. Although I've heard the Omnium rings are a bit thicker around the bolt area so you would need different chainring bolts for any other brand of ring. Not sure if this 100% true!
