Goldtecs are loverlly, got a pair on my bike and love 'em. 7600 also great. Got one of them for sunny days. IMO its goldtecs for the win. 7600s are perhaps a little too much effort to keep running smooth and are
less practicalbetter looking. Where as goldtecs are fit and forget. -

That loose bearing "problem" is much overrated, btw.

I refuse to take hub criticism from someone who ran an aerojoke on an njs bike... Or a snowflake rear....
(:
I think the Paul hubs are great, super smooth, well finished, and the lockring is a big Fucker, which to me just compounds the overall feeling of quality. What's your gripe?

I'm kind of surprised you don't see more HHSBs rocking profile hubs, bright colours, pretty engravings and female axles. Seems like they tick everybox

no, I am not saying they are shit or anything like that. the price is just ridiculous, not too much different from whiteind or goldtec - and I know what id choose.
besides, they made this, and I think that speaks for itself really.. -

(Too much colour coding...)Love it.

Fixed gear, no breaks....... Can't stop, won't stop.

there is always a stopless path, thats what mash and macaframa movies taught me.

Thanks everyone for the help, i'll have a better look and see, pretty set on goldtecs now, maybe a phil if i can justify it.
Rat bike with tri-spoke is also a re.

The goldtec pros are really hot if you have the pennies. The central machined bit gives it that extra bang :) Give them a look, have one and it spins foreeeeeeever..

I would totally run these if i could afored it

that san marco zoncolan is appearing on lots of hhsb's recently

You want slave? Chubb hub.
Then there are all the others where your choice can be made up by which one you prefer.
The Goldtecs are cheaper than a few others.... Is that not inherently defy the point of "most slave rear hub"
^I was thinking about a Zoncolan before I got an SLR but someone told me they were uncomfortable...

Let me catch up here.
I've never been fortunate enough to run Phils but my Goldtec is the best hub I've owned. Chubb looks the most ridiculous/slave.
The Zoncolan is fugly as a blue waffle, I don't understand the appeal of them. Stick to flite, arione or slr on modern builds.
Other than the saddle the Superb is erm... superb.

i like that superb. although paint, apply 93 track decals, cut out that bit in the track ends and there you go, enjoy your cannondale..
but i still like it. -

I would have a black phil ideally, but is single sided fixed enough? or would it make more sense to shell out for the double fixed? sorry for being annoying.
-
• #5871
Are you planning on using two different sized cogs regularly? If not then single sided should be enough.
-
• #5872
I use a miche carrier...
-
• #5873
or the very handy lock whip tool of andy's, with the cog in question.
job done. -

I shelled out for the double fixed goldetc, and have not used it once, well maybe once, but lock whip is the way to go.

^^ Usually I'm a big fan of Miche (I even like the much berated primato BB) - but I really can't get on with the sprocket carrier on the street - it always feels slightly loose when you skid
Depends what we got for sale at the moment..
I'd say goldtec, if you are a hip hipster.. Otherwise da7600 all the Way.
Paul's are overpriced as fuck, not worth more than half of its price (sorry Tom).
