The thing is, nobody said anything mildly offensive and it's a big thing to assume that they were being sexual, if it was a man and he commented on his jeans nobody would give a fuck even though he might be gay and want to get under those.
Sure, except we live in a culture where 'nice skirt ;)' isn't just complimenting someone's outfit. There is a whole realm of negative inferences we can draw from it. However taking it in good faith, the best we can say is that the context is unclear.
p.s. you're going to have to decide whether you think offence is objective or subjective.

mysoginist means woman-hater; from ancient greek, where the only mysoginists around were gay.
all he was doing was complimenting?
I did my dissertation on Hellenistic philosophy, I'm good with ancient etymology.
Reducing women to objects is violence; removing their personhood is a violent action. I'm fine with labelling that hate. I'm surprised that so soon after Elliot Rodgers took that violence to it's extreme conclusion, people are ready to defend the thin end of the wedge.

Funny thing is it's not even a skirt. If ueono had said "dat dress" then we probably wouldn't be having this conversation, as the word skirt only caused such an outrage because of it's outdated colloquial definition.

'Skirt' is definitely a word with some bad connections, that's true. Having said that, if every could just stop making unprompted comments about a women appearance then that would just be great.
