Alpinas are heavy? Lol. Compared to what? Its a carbon fork with an alu steerer. Could it really be described as 'heavy' vs steel?
-

whats wrong with an alpina? cheap, short rake...do you really need a carbon steerer on a mash? can't see a massive advantage...but this is HHSB.
I'm glad you edited that. Remember what thread you're in. You've been warned.
things that really don't matter is how heavy your slave bike is
I like going fast on my slurve burk. Also, what's more ludicrously than weightweenieness on a commuter?

Compared to a 295g Enve fork, very heavy.
Almost twice as heavy, in fact.

If you chop the steerer right, you can lose a quite a few grams - shit! sorry, thats why we're discussing this in the first place.

I like to ride my sled downstairs/off kerbs/jump over stuff etc... I know there have been great developments in carbon but I think I would still trust alu steerer over carbon? 300g isn't the end of the world, you could probably lose that from your bars/stem/post or tyres/tubes... Or you could just ignore the 300g

I weigh around ~60kg, I am not going to snap anything, even though I razz about like a moron. Weight is super noticeable, and when I'm trying to keep everything else light too there is no reason to skimp on the forks I guess.
ALSO SINCE WHEN HAVE YOU BEEN PREACHING CAUTION IN SLAVE BIKES????

morgan this is with 40mm road fork, tyre clearance is the same as on track alpinas

^^ Was that not hot pink a few weeks ago?
Maybe potatoes?
Yeah, the leader 722 quote was my cue to post. The 'gram effort looked good on retina on an iPhone. Shite in real life. True colour is hot porno pink/orange/red.

And half fill your drinks bottle/not have that pre-ride can of coke/have the pre-ride piss n dump.

Fair enough, I guess enve track fork would looks sick, but then, big rake will look wack and affect the handlings... Are woundups heavy?
also...
SINCE WHEN HAS THIS BECOME HHSWWBs??
-
• #31164
Woundups aren't *that *heavy, but integrated headset to woundups looks fucking horrid. Maybe I could chop the front off, add a new headtube that's designed for a Chris King and a tapered Enve... Too much work.

I'm referring specifically about the Enve fork / frame configuration - obviously the build is dogshit

Just having a consider about the geometry, then I'll pick one up. I'll have it fitted and cut at Kinoko, no fucking way I'm touching that myself.

My alpinas are full carbon. They're the road ones though, I'm guessing they don't do a full carbon track version.

Have you met Owenreed? He barely weighs anything. He also enjoyed having this happen:

Saadat, how heavy is your beard?
Do you think when in an aero position the extra weight over the front wheel means your forks are under more stress? do you run higher PSI in the front tyre?
Please expand.
