"Easton crabon track bars don't need grips" is the new "it's not a tiny ratio, it's Dura-Ace 10".

I saw that bike in SF, thought it look fun.

Dumb question, but what the fook is a dura ace 10 chain (is it refering to it being a 10 speed chain?) and how does that increase it's gear ratio in any way, apologies in advance

dont apologise, nobody knows everything, and some people prefer to behave like a dick instead of anything else.
pitch 10 come refer to the width, so you got more teeth on a ring that looks smaller than the regular chainring with the same tooth count.
here you can see the difference, both chainrings are 48t - but 10 pitch looks smaller.
so it may look like somebody is running a small gear ratio with a chainring like that.

before calling somebody a dick make sure you are capable of explaining stuff properly yourself. "pitch 10 come refer to width" - what the hell was that? or did you mean to say that usual chain has a "pitch" (distance between pins) of 1/2", which is 12,5mm, and for a "10 pitch" chain this distance is 10mm?

No need to apologise. I think the answer's been covered now, but yeah, basically because it used a 10mm pitch, any given ratio looks smaller than the usual half-inch pitch. The idea was to save weight as all the parts are smaller.
What I meant was that literally every time a picture of it is posted, someone pipes up to comment on the 'lame' gearing. Same thing now with the EC90 track bars that have the grippy finish on the lower part. Which was my original snarky/dumb/convoluted point.
