Yeah, I meant the descending would be slow and shit, not the climbing. I retract m original statement.

Quoting without reading...
Groundhog day. Same scenery. Over and over.
The view is at the top and on the way down.I would not have wrote that If I thought any different. Climbing hills on a fixed gear is the best.
I think it is.
I wouldn't say it's easier climbing hill fixed. It's just different.
'Climbing hills on a fixed gear is the best' ??????????????????????
Are you saying that from personal experience... Come to Leeds Andy... I think both me and TM would be more then happy to show you norwood edge fixed.

I wouldn't say it's easier, but it's nice to have the ability to get into a smaller gear if needs be. I certainly think climbing fixed is more efficient, because you just have to go for it and less power is wasted.

Fucking roadie, polluting this thread.

I disagree that the SF hills would encourage you to get a geared bicycle, just adapt a different ratio suitable for a specific city.
Fuck, I agree with ed on something for once!

sure, but I don't have the kind of tyre budget that allows me to enjoy a descent on a fixed with a 50" climbing gear, or the legs to keep spinning without them falling off.

I know the feeling though martin, I think the same way about your Low.

Honestly, after the lack of respect you have shown me on here over the last few weeks... I know for a fact that I will never be going anywhere with you and TM. Also you will never be involved in anything I am doing (through my own choice).
No offense, good luck.

Aw babes
Andy being incredibly condescending and obnoxious is also considered disrespectful so I would consider it tit for tat.
Also I think you'd be missing out if you never went to Yorkshire, some great hills up there

...and so began the great fixeh divide. A darkness fell over the land for 3K years. The Spokalypse was upon us...

You obviously have never heard of the SF Wiggle. You would benefit from using your intellect more than your muscle.
I disagree that the SF hills would encourage you to get a geared bicycle, just adapt a different ratio suitable for a specific city.
Not just that but the beautiful countryside outside SF, like Naple/Sonoma County for example, amazing to ride through and extremely doable on a fixed wheel bicycle.
Probably doable brakeless I think, but worth getting 1 teeth bigger on the rear to be sure.
I live in SF, ride both fixed and gearz and would like to state:
Andy, you sound like a fucking moron. I don't care if you are borrowing Förstemann's legs but you will limit yourself, the rides you do, and the friendships you make massively with your cute and try hard desperate to be #fixiefamous attitude. No-one wants to hang around at the top of every climb, or the bottom of every decent, or strip all the trails out of their ride so they can instagram fixehmasher who has some publication. And don't even pretend to say that the Mash gents 'all still just ride fixed.'
lol
