^ sounds like user errors to me.
Motor bikes are just plain stupid. Every single person I know who has one, has had at least one stolen and one major accident involving broken bones.. and even (tragically) two deaths of people close to me.
I once spent 10 mins on the back of a 1000c Ducati, it was enough to convince me that I would never ever be doing it again. Stupid things.

Tl;DR
I have both, motorbikes have been taken off the road and garaged for over a year now, approaching 2... bicycle(s) get used daily.

so my first stab against #deathtoroadies
- he is not a good mechanic/doesent want pay for a good mechanic
- he clearly hasnt used electronic groupsets ;)
My story goes like this;
shitty £150 MTB > dabble in 'hybrid' bikes (oh god what was I thinking!) > steel langster SS > Planet X CX geared > first serious road bike > first fixed bike (langster alu) > first expensive fixed bike > Motorbike (Bandit 600cc) > sell road bike and JUST have fixed bike(s) and motorbike > back to road bike with fixed bike on side > Electronic shifting and hydraulic disc brakesI get what he is saying, I have had those frustrating moments when things dont work smoothly and then getting back to ss/fixed thinking how simple is this! But since then I have learned about gears and mechanics and dont (or rarely) have those frustrating moments.
Doesent mean I hated it, it was just me being thick.

Fair comments. But I also know many who ride motor bikes who have never crashed or been in any accidents. I also know some who have crashed and one in particular who is no longer with us. It's not enough to put me off though...
Being on the back of a ZX6R when I was about 13 pretty much sold it for me. At the end of the day, car, motor bike, push bike, you're at risk of being in an accident.

^ motorcycles are nice; I literally laugh at anyone who says they are a deathtrap for 2 main reasons;
- I am from India and I used to (and still do) ride a 350cc bike there. Nothing can be more dangerous.
- Generally people who say this have very less or no 2 wheel road experience so they are mainly talking out of their ass or the media/cultural paranoia.
If you visit motorcycle thread you will see lots of forum members have motorbikes and enjoy them.
The only reason I sold my motorbike was because the insurance was fucking expensive for me.
I have crashed on both but my pedal bike crash was worse ;)
Get a motorbike, dont hate on roadies.
The whole argument is as illogical as saying 'I love apples but I hate people who eat oranges'. - I am from India and I used to (and still do) ride a 350cc bike there. Nothing can be more dangerous.

I was riding motorbikes since I was tiny, but I've only broken bones on a pushbike. Go figure.
I'm about to take the Harley down to the south of France to park the fucker on the Ventoux. I just hope motorbikes don't have a huge resurgence in the same way that bikes have. If I have to deal with a nodder peloton of motorbikes like I do with pushbikes, that'll be way too scary.
