  • Longer cranks wouldn't help with that and long cranks can get dangerous pretty quickly on fixed gear bikes.

  • not unless you're riding track

  • Track, or racing on flat circuits, riding off road or even leaning on roads.

  • And fuck 175mm.

I changed from 165 to 172.5. Best thing ever done.

  • I'm on 170 but for what I do I wouldn't go longer.

  • Track, or racing on flat circuits, riding off road or even leaning on roads.

you have to lean pretty bloody far for 175mm arms to become an issue

  • leaning on roads

    No!

Indra, longer cranks will allow for less seatpost and therefore more comfortable saddle to bars drop.
try it with some cheap ones, dont base it on assumptions.

  • No it won't Martin.

Longer cranks mean knees more bent at the top of the stroke.

  • Officially unsubscribed. ^ and ^^

Had the argument with scoble and tester already...

  • and your decades of cycling experience won?

  • No, I argued that longer was better.

    I was schooled.

  • indra.
its not worse or better, it is just different.
as long as you are not hitting your own ribs with your knees, leave the top of the stroke out of the concern, unless there is something very wrong with your knees going on atm.
ask yourself, which moment of the revolution/stroke is the main reference point to bike fitters.

    eingang, stop reposting bitte.

  • The argument came because of the theory that longer crank = lowered saddle, which in reality is quite the opposite.

  • hasn't it been proven quite alot of times that it makes fuck all difference.

dont you start this again now

  • I am sticking with my 170mm cranks as from my experience* they are the best all round cranks.

    *165-172.5

the full photoset was released today, so it's not a repost. only the example picture is one.

dein gelaber interessiert mich dennoch nicht.

It's a 7.5mm difference... Shallower soled shoes perhaps?!

  • colossi are on top of it.

If "it" is a pile of underinflated super shit Halo tyres then yes, they most definitely are.

How would longer cranks not mean you need a lower saddle?
