Like most of the stuff in here, if you gotta ask why then you're probably missing the point.
Of course, I'm missing the point. That is why I'm asking. Aesthetics? I must admit the Lo-Pros I saw "back in the day" I found extremely striking but this was at a time when most all bicycles looked pretty much the same.. before aerobars, oversized shaped tubes, etc.
Lo-Pros have a number of significant problems.. weight, handling, rolling resistance.... and by the current state of the art.. sub-optimal aerodynamics..
We have seen loads of silly ideas over the years.. fads have come and gone.. but why has the Lo-Pro taken so dear a place in the hearts of the "street fixie set"? We have today more builders cranking out Lo-Pros then even during their hey-day.. -

So have plastic wheels, it's not very practical or sensible to use a hed 3 every day but people do because they want to, it looks cool etc.
Same reason people ride lo pros. -

You're in the wrong thread to be trying to get any further than aesthetics.

This just isn't true though is it?
Lo-pros look cool so why wouldn't people use them for street pootling? What do you suggest, we round up all the out of date frames and burn them?

Of course, I'm missing the point. That is why I'm asking. Aest... blah blah outdated blah bla...heir hey-day..
We just like them because they look cool.
Why can't you just accept that? -

Clearly getting downward sloping track frames confused with real lo-pros.

Disc can be had for under £300 second hand or build your own.
Hard to find and IO second hand but even if you did it's unlikely to go for under a grand.
You could get one that's made in the same mould for around £700 and re sticker it.
Sub grand wheelset? -

Fast Forward wheels, they do a 5 spoke like the IO, but probably much cheaper. Or these:

^If that is the 'best build to ever leave the shop', what is the worst? Ok, I admit I have front wheel envy, but that stem and saddle???
