apart from the ridiculous chainring and cog, that is quite outstanding. need to see close up of headtube lugs or whatever is going on there.

"Very nice. What's the gear ratio, that chainring looks huge?"
"59x24. I've had this setup on a few different bikes so far, just think it looks rad, and is still only around 65"
"Even more rad with a smaller cog ;-) Still looks great though.
What's next?"
...from current projects thread.

That Woodrup is outstanding.
They are 3 miles down the road from me... Recently bought the Mrs one 2nd hand.
Pending details of cost, I may save for something like that purple beauty. Make it a "frame for life"... I think that is the kind of frame that would warrant that duty. So nice, and handbuilt in Leeds!
Only thing I'd do different is 1" threaded.

Details for Mark...
Hand cut FB.
Kevin Sayles' specific 'S' in a heart emblem.
Maurice Woodrup headbadge; an optional but well worthwhile extra. Lovely. -

Make it a "frame for life"...
I'm intrigued by the idea of a "frame for life" for someone who gets through 5 or 6 frames a year....

They're the ones you keep for 3 years rather then 3 months.

Well, each frame I've had has just fallen short in some aspect. Either not quite the right size, not the ride I'm after, not the style.... I've got the best 2 so far with the Condor and the Sirius. Guess that's the way with buying second hand and experimenting with sizing and materials a little. If I was dropping money on a custom steel frame, I'd obviously have it built the exact size and geo I wanted, probably get 2 forks built for it ( a tight track fork and a roomier drilled fork)... Either 853 or a mix of Columbus... It's something that would take alot of thought and a lot of money, not something I'd rush into, or grow bored of and sell on....
That Woodrup is just lovely.
I've got a feeling it will have been around £2000 F&F, which I couldn't afford anyway.

what made you choose sirius over a panasonic though, was this dimensions related?
-
• #19967
Well, I picked up the Sirius dirt cheap, thought I'd build it up and see if I liked the ride.
Was originally cash motivated as I was in debt and needed to sort out my finances. But it only took one ride on the Sirius to fall in love with it a little. It's 531c, and is lighter than the Pana, has a more lively ride, good geo... It's a really nice frame to ride, alot of fun and comfortable as well.
If I'm going to own a prestigious frame, either NJS or British or what, I want the ride to blow my mind.
Size wise they are very similar, Pana was 57tt 59st, Sirius is 56x58.5...
I think perfect size for me would be 57.5x59.

For me there's also a distinction between the serious bikes and those that are just there for a laugh (the +1's if you will).
I get through quite a lot of tarck bieks, lo pros etc and constantly change bits on them, but I've had a De Rosa for 10years and have only changed out components when they die.
Still don't think I'd have the confidence to go for a custom frame yet though as I'm still collecting my thoughts on what constitutes perfection -

Yeah, the ever moving goalposts of perfection (:
