came in here to post that. i think the stumpy stem also still doesn't help to make the proportions look a bit off

It's his personal choice on the stem, it does look kinda short but he mostly rides in the drops. He came with the bars wrapped already, I did not want to pull it off and rewrap them as it would have damaged the tape.
One of the best builds we have seen so far though!

Lovely. That's the direction I want to take my lo pro.

Intended as track not tarck, but rad and a bargain!

any one got some opinions on the best road pedals for fixae skidding? With my budget i'm mainly looking at r540 spd-sl or look keos.
Thoughts on these or others i should consider?

I rode those R540 and came unclipped going down big hills and whip skidding many times, with tension wound up to max. Steer clear.
Apparently Keo Arc are good, I've not ridden them or budget keos though so can't say.
For me it's either Atacs or Restraps...

Shimano 105 SPD-SL are quite good... What's your top budget?

dont get the look keo easys, not great tension even at max. Found them terrible for track riding so would be even worse for skidding

It's the angle of the photo that makes the fork look weird, that and the wide angle lens on my Ricoh!
Here is another...
Much better. Looks really tasty now

I swear you are the only person this has ever happened to. I don't even have the tension on max and I've never come unclipped even deliberately trying to, and I don't think I've ever come across anyone else saying they have either...

I had them pop out bombing a hill, no twist or anything...
You're clearly not trying hard enough... (:

..or pedalling and skidding correctly.

Cleat issue???
-
• #17440
Funnily enough, that time on the hill, it snapped the front off a near new cleat, replaced cleats and still suffered unclipping under heavy resisting...
Another reason for riding MTB shoes for me is if you do come unclipped, you can easily catch the pedal coming round with your midsole and skid...Trying to do it with road pedals and shoes isn't easy.

Sounds weird... faulty pedals perhaps? I have never before heard of this being an issue.

I have only ever popped out once on keo's and this was down to panicking in the face of a sudden steep downhill with a blind corner arrriving far too quickly..
other than that i have useed on track and whilst fixeh skidding with no issues.
however when back in the big smoke for commuting and city riding i will not be using road pedals.

Just to check, we are talking about riding sans brakes?

I didnt mean keos in general, just these ones

^^Yep. Not saying it isn't an issue... only I've never heard of it before.

I still dont understand the popularity of road pedals on HHSBs, just doesn't make sense to me. Clipless MTB pedals are far more practical and I hardly think that the argument that road pedals are more efficient, you can put down more power yadda yadda etc etc is at all relevant to most of us on here.

Diagonal straps is where it's at innit.
-
• #17449
If I went back to road clipless, I'd go Keos. For the simple reason that they look fucking NASTY. So angular.
In other news, I'm selling a Trispoke and some other dubiously Slave gear over here: http://www.lfgss.com/thread99955.html#post3359792
