this is what makes them that price, whether they warrent it or not is another question.
Shimano zens are nicer anyway

But to be fair I fail to see what in the manufacture process of a chainring made of METAL would warrant such a high price tag, Japanese hipster tax?
What's wrong with metal?

for dirty and cheerful street riding Id go for 44rn any day tbh

although with all this being said I reckon suginos and shimanos and what not are now easier to get than 44rns...

Nothing it's just for that price I'd expect some space age carbon shizzz.
Metal's great but it shouldn't be that expensive, well not aluminium! -

^^ 47t is shit, they're ugly imo, as you said just as hard to get/pricey now anyway
-
• #15558
degustibus, as people say
-

47 or 53 chainring are the aficianados choice.
anything else and you can GTFO with your puny skid patches.
-
• #15564
52x19 you got 19 patches
47x17 you got 17 patches -

Metal's great but it shouldn't be that expensive, well not aluminium!IIRC the S3 cubic chainrings are milled to a higher tolerance than other chainrings. Meaning they are rounder.
S3 Cubic is machined to 0.05mm tolerance and coated in the S3 formula with an electrochemical dip
Standard Zen is machined to 0.5mm tolerance but not coated in S3.
I guess this ring is expensive due to the manufacturing process and the fact that so many top athletes have proved how good it is for it's intended use.

New rims and chainring on my Brascona. I'm nearly completely happy with the set up... nearly!

Love it. Are Brascona framesets being/ever going to be sold?

as Patrick said in the Impetus talk, possibly, but not currently.

What's the weight of the Brascona?
Who luckily don't have to pay for their own parts. I'm tempted to get a Gigas cog, just to have one ludicrous top-end part on my bike...
