that says a lot about aerosporks. spinergys are notorious for collapsing, which is why they are banned for racing. -

There's quite a bit of misinformation about Rev-X out there, basically they were banned from mass-start events for which you require 16 or more spokes cos they only have 8.
Since Spinergy were marketing this as a road racing wheel rather than a TT or pursuit wheel they stopped making them when the rules changed.
There are plenty of stories of the ones with carbon circlips failing catastrophically, and I've also read somewhere that rev-X's failed a "UCI Rupture test" I don't know whether this is true, but it's irrelevant as I believe the rupture test is for massed start wheels with more than 16 spokes.
If you are rocking rev-x's on your slave you want to have ones where the spoke tension is held with aluminium bits rather than carbon... early ones used carbon circlips to support the carbon blades, these are the ones that exploded. for later models they revised the hub and to a 3 piece aluminum designAny wheel of non-traditional construction with 16 or more spokes is subjected to the scrutiny of the UCI before it can be used for massed start events.
These wheels are published here -

^ Thinking about it, the 16spoke rule may have come in after a rev-x-amputation!!
There was a lot of talk about them chopping off body parts and slicing bidons in half back in the 90's when they were super popular. -

^^I was going to post this but I forgot the word "circlip".

I crashed mine off the deep end of the redbull mini drome the other year, I bent the skewer but the wheel itself is still perfectly sound
