Speaking as someone who owned a bike with massive hydro-formed tubes like that, let me tell you this: they are total fuckers to lock up, so awkward to get a D-lock around.

Through backwheel and seat stays, not exactly rocket science.

Thats frame is the same as a Dave Hinde which is £495
http://www.davehinde.com/road-bikes/bikes/hinde-pista-frame.html

unknown^
^^ i think spotter had the other hinde in mind, not similar either though must say
-
• #11161
seat stays are the only difference, the hindes are actually nicer imo
-
• #11162
seatstay shape, the seat stays/toptube intersection, down tube/toptube/headtube joint, and headtube length (proportions like)
-
• #11163
That curved down tube on the Hinde is anti for me.
-
• #11164
Yeah, even if he's a lovely guy, Hinde's a gimp for curving that down tube.

According to Taster, tight geo is a bit 80s.... Maybe hinde shares that opinion...

Its a ZTR Iron Cross cyclocross rim - 700c, 32 hole, no braking surface, 19mm profile, 23mm wide, 385g, and strong as hell.
Have heard of some people having problems with fitting standard road tyres on them, but hasn't been an issue for me with the Gatorskins, but I had a tyre on it that had blown off a couple of times attempting tubeless (they are tubeless rims, but only for CX tyres) and think it damaged the beading of the tyre, so it would from time to time blow off the rim even with an inner tube, and it can be a bitch for pinch punctures from installing the tyre as its very easy to pinch the inner tube.
I do know that people have tried using tubeless road tyres on them, but its extremely difficult to get them on and they didn't work as the tyre bead was stuck, but think they've only tried it with the Hutchinson tubeless tyres, so would like to try it with the Bontrager tubeless that are out, or the Schwalbe tubeless tyres coming out soon, and see if they have a slightly larger beading circumference.
Thanks man, i was thinking it would make a nice rear rim, it does look good without any braking surface, i'm still a little un convinced about it being ok for road tyres though, seeing as i use 23c mostly. Still deciding between a23, tb14 or the iron cross atm.
The bike and new rack looks great by the way.

I'd be all over ztr rims for my low if they just made them in silver. Dunno is nitromorsing or sanding rims that good idea.
oh well, archetype are pretty nice too.

Cheers man, the rack is still a work in progress, but getting there, just waiting for some new black Omnium cranks to turn up now, then thinking of having a go at respraying it something more colourful than grey on grey.
To be fair, the joint weld on the ZTR Iron Cross is a little sloppy (says the perfectionist!), but then without rim brakes there's no reason to have a perfectly machined surface, and without actually looking for it its unnoticeable.
The TB14 is a great rim, I've got one on the rear wheel and really like it, but it has the same ext width as the ZTR Iron Cross and int width is less than 1mm narrower, and lots of people use both the TB14 and the Archetype with 23mm tyres on, but that bit extra off the bead width on the ZTR might make all the difference.

I don't see why you can't nitromorse them and sand them down, it would smarten up the weld and with no eyelets should come out really shiny.
I've done that to a Campagnolo Vento wheel that had a fair bit of wear on it and that came out lush after wet'n'dry down to 1500 grit IIRC, you might want to give it a spray of clear coat so it don't lose its shine and tarnish.
Although saying that, I don't know if its a paint finish or anodised.
