50 - 19 is 73.6 gear inches and 19 skid patches.

51x18 = 6 skid patches @ 74.4" (12 patches if you're ambidextrous - the beauty of an odd chainring)

-
• #11031
hmm, I used an app on my phone to work it out, using Sheldon's site is says 69.4 for 50-19.
-
• #11032
Rik 51-18 is definitely on the cards, cheers.
Sumo your right i make it 69 too.

just realised I had the tyre size set wrong on the app.

• #11034
53-19 is good too at 73gi.

TMs biek give me excuse to post this agian.
I've wanted a Rushhour pro for so long, especially a yellow 2008 one. Was kicking myself when the one TM has came up, my size but waaay to much for me to justify

On the subject of GI and skid patches - does anyone have a black Zen chainring they want to sell me? 48+ teeth BUT NOT 49 because odd numbers are disgusting.
-
• #11039
what do you have on the back then?
-
• #11040
the front looks so slacky I just hate these. Is the head angle like 72 or something?
^ That's kind of my point. If you sat down to design a bike for rad street riding and didn't care what it looked like you'd probably end up with a slack headtube - they make a lot of sense. You'd also end up with clearance for 25mm tyres too.
I dislike the attitude of Dosnoventa almost as much as Superb - I just wanted to make the point that it's form follows (rad) functionas main concern here is overlap, how about a steeper ht and simply more rake on original forks? everybody could change the fork if they were not too happy.
so close, yet so far. -

Back on the road to slavery...
The girl I'm seeing thinks it's cool and wants one for her road bike now, so that's gotta count for something.
Actually got it for a trip coming up in a couple of weeks, where I'll be rocking the horns, but I can't be bothered removing my seatpost every time! Does look ludicrous though.

If you compare this with how common the Mash is i think you'll find they're still rare...
Mash - Taiwanese mass produced
Low - Hand built in SF by a small team of 2 -38mth wait list from the guys at LOW, according to their website.

^ I'm sure we all know this.
Jadias that maketh me miss the Viv so bad. How you finding the Aero? Comfy enough for long journeys?
-
• #11044
Yeah it's ok. Not ideal I'm sure but not really any less comfy to my arse than my Concor Light. I've put up to 120km on it in a day and that wasn't super-great but it was tolerable.
Gonna invest in some nicer bib shorts before the next trip which I'm sure will help too.

• #11045
is that leather or suede? do they even make suede aeros?
-
• #11046
It's leather (or their fake leather). They do make suede ones, yeah - sexy as hell but the rain here would knacker one.
-
• #11047
I'd take responsive steering (agressive head angle) and good looks over slackyness of a steamroller (dosnoventa angles) any day
-
• #11048
my Dodici has quite a slack headtube (barspins lol), but is definitely responsive enough
-
• #11049
fun starts when you get an overlap while doing fishtail skids :D
-
• #11050
When you say fun, you mean blood. Yeah?
I'm thinking about getting a zen chainring, but i wanted to get something a bit bigger than 48t, probably more like 50-53, can anyone recommend a ratio similar to 74gi (48-17) with lots of skid patches?
Actually how do you calculate skid patches?
