Does any pro team use integrated bar and stem? They seem like an epic waste of money to me.

But everything is made in China...
-
• #479
Yeah, but if it has a European or US brand name on it it becomes unbreakable.

Sometimes there are the same carbon or alu frames around. but with different decals.* "Designed in Italy. Made in Taiwan"*.

I remember Caisse d'epargne/Movistar did. Not sure if they still do though.

I was reading a similar conversation on WW or the like recently and someone posted a picture of Cadel Evans using an integrated bar/stem combo.

Pro teams have equipment sponsors who pay them to use certain products.
-
• #486
True, but if there was genuine utility surely some pros would be using them?
Given that they look shit, they aren't functional, and they cost more than a standard set-up, my conclusion is that anyone running them is a bit mentally deficient.

What?
I just thought Evans, Gilbert, Hushovd, Kohler, Hincapie, and Ballen just happened to share my taste in bike brand.

The Nagos often have integrated bars as part of their FSA package BTW. Heavier and more expensive than separates.

With reference to carbon fibre saddles, the K:1 that I have is covered with a clear gel layer that does deform, spreading pressure over the saddle shell, and also providing some grip- so you don't slide around.
-

The sliding around is my favorite thing about carbon saddles. Being able to fine tune your position without having your bibs group up is brilliant. It becomes second nature as well, similar to pedals with lots of free float.

Apologies if I missed it in the previous pages - does your systemsix have a bb30 bottom bracket? I ask because I have a non-bb30 cannondale frame and would really like to fit a hollowgram chainset but google tells me this could prove to be more effort than its worth.
-
• #494
Yep, it's BB30.
There is a way of fitting a Hollowgram chainset to non-BB30, but it involves using an MTB spindle and outboard bearing cups, and therefore increases the Q factor by quite a bit.
I don't think I'd go that route, personally, but then I am hugely lazy.

What is it, and how much does it weigh?

I'm guessing a di2 battery??
Or a plug in dildo? Either is good, neither prefered over the other

Are you gonna run the cables through the DT or over the BB and through the BB shell?
Careful with that drill...
-
• #499
There is an existing, quite large hole in the BB shell into which the cable guide used to affix.
The cable will enter there, go round the axle, up the seat tube and plug into the new battery pack which will be in the seatpost.
Battery pack is made up of two Trustfire 900mAH batteries soldered into slim pack, Trustfire batteries chosen as they have integral protection PCBs.

Are you running the cables externally until the BB or going from junction box straight in to frame?
I fully expect one of them to explode during Flanders this weekend
