Yes, it worries me. I'll be especially worried whilst descending Alps in July.
If you ruin my holiday by killing yourself on the first day, I will not be impressed....Wait til the last day, at least, please.

If I'm going down I'm taking you with me
-
• #154
Anyway, the whole lot will be done before the end of May so 2 months testing to make sure it's not kaput
-
• #155
you're taking it to the Alps in July?
Get fitted for a mouthguard?
-
• #156
It's finished....
....apart from some sanding.
-
• #157
Are you going to clearcoat it?
-
• #158
Yep. After I've applied some 'team' decals

Carbon degrades if not protected in normal light conditions.
-
• #160
Is that actually true?
I mean I know it does, but it isn't it like alu corroding? Is there any meaningful effect in reality?
Cant you get wax to protect it.

303 Aerospace something or other seems to be used by those wishing to save grams on lacquer. I'm just gonna lacquer mine though as it'll keep the decals on the bike. If I was going stealth I'd prolly go the 303 route too.

UV light definitly causes degradation of the polymeric binder. In a polymer like epoxy resin, I would expect this to be quite a slow process. I've no idea, but it would surprise if they're arent some UV stabilisers present in the resin/ clearcoat.
Still hang my carbon furthest from the workroom window though.

Arrived today: Gear and brake cablesets
the white paint looks shoddy as fuck -
• #164
Like white stiletto's on a black outfit.
-
• #165
It looks like they've been rattle canned
-
• #166
Not up to your usual standard of work then, Dov?
-
• #167
I'm not sure how they apply the paint to them, but I was expecting a glossy even finish. Instead it's matt and patchy.
I prolly could do better if I could be bummed to try.
-
• #168
But you'd have to remove the existing paint first.
-
• #169
are those Nokon cables Dov, or the Alligator ones?
-
• #170
That's Nokon, Alligator are a sort of vase shape.

This project is so close to being finished...

and lighter :)
I still use mine for the rear brake outer, I switched to the PowerCordz outer for the front as it had noticeably less friction

My inability to get replacement liners meant I binned them. I think you can get liners from clee cycles but they don't answer emails and I'm well lazy.
If anyone wants a complete set of outers (gear and brake) then just say and I'll put them in the post for a tenner.

Coould I grab the brake ones for my cross bike?
Very interesting. Keep up the good work.
