Place to wash bike

First I must solicit your strictest confidence in this transaction...

There is a car wash here that will do it for a couple of pound.

The blokes who work there shoot you daggers for humiliating them by asking them to wash a bike though.

i would be wary of having a high pressure hose used near bike bearings, even sealed ones.

plus to properly clean a cassette can take a bit of scrubbing

Just go for a ride right now. You'll get a puncture for sure but your bike will be clean. Proper jetwash monsoon out there!

There is also a coin operated jet wash here on Holloway Road. £1 per minute, but a minute is basically fine for a quick hose off. Keep the jet well away from any bearings as mentioned earlier. For a more detailed clean I chuck the bike in the shower.

My rear hub doesn't even have sealed bearings, should I avoid any water getting there?

if you use a jet wash it will flush the grease out of the bearings, and mud and grit in.

sealed bearings tend to make more sense for a bike that is being used on the road

A jetwash only does this if you spray it directly at the bearings. Avoid spraying the hubs, headset and bb directly and you've nothing to worry about.

Also eyes, avoid spraying your eyes.

Despite how filthy i get on the mountain bike, I have never got mud inside my bibshorts. Possibly the advantages of filling my lycra more than a skinny mountain goat like yourself and from wearing overshorts.

But I would not be putting a high pressure hose up my arse to clean it out.

dilute some of this in an old mr muscle kitchen/bathroom hand pump spray all over.. then wait for it to rain.. job done

Fenwicks kicks arse, was cheaper than muckoff last timeI noticed any comparable sizes, and Fenwicks comes in bigger sizes cos motorbikers love it.
