The real community spirit here is - you put your bike upside down right in the entrance as long as you're in your ends (so watch you don't slip into an enemy chicken shop).
It might work with Westfield too.
Ha.. I love how this is standard knowledge all over london

Lets regenerate the East End by building a fuck off temple to megabrands - works every time.
You could have a machine that turns Create's into Colnago's in there and you still couldnt persuade me to go near that place.

^ better than a nuclear waste filled polluted industrial brown site with 100's of acres of disused railway sidings ... not much better i grant you, but better
once they finish refurbishing the canals and planting the parkland you could go to the site and not have to deal with westfield or the olympic site at all

I like how they moved the Travellers from the site under the flyover to the walled up site next to the Westfield's entrance (by the old Wheelers [strike]slaughterhouse[/strike] pub). Same shit just with a 10 feet wall and some ponies shitting by the side of the road.

While I worked on the north end of the site during the remediation/clear-out/clear-up of the whole park area, an agreement was made with them that they had to move but the cost of their relocation would be taken care of by CLM/The ODA etc.
As far as I can remember the travellers were built that walled site just to the east of The Olympics Park to make them go without too much trouble.Still didn't stop them trying repeatedly to steal some of the MDF/wooden perimeter hoarding though ;)

Can you actually buy a bicycle in Westfield ? An actual real one, wheel it out the door and ride it home ?
I'm not sure if you can.
-
• #34
You can probably order one made of rubies and diamonds with Dolce&Gabana wheels.

It's an Aussie company, of course there's no provision for bikes. If we had money to spend in their shops we wouldn't be riding around on toys now would we?
I cycled past both Westfields tonight on my annual Christmas Day tour of the shopping centres.

I'm at work now and it's dead. Deader than a dead thing from Deadville that's won an award for being dead.
There are retailers shitting themselves and some very nervous-looking Westfield marketing people scurrying around.
It's hilarious.

Westfield is just a haven for the cagers to go to without being exposed to the elements, this is all.
I rather go to the real stuff, with real people, and real community.
I agree entirely. If I (as a cyclist) am not catered for, I have plenty of other places where I can spend my money and park my bike right outside. Simples

That's because the media is "adjusted" to fill people with confidence and encourage them to spend.

I'm not confident with all those stabbings involving footwear.

This reminds me of Liverpool's capital of Culture thing culminating in Liverpool ONE.
These things aren't 100% good or bad. Yeah it was nice to have stores in Liverpool that you'd have to go to Manchester for but as far as the have-nots and down trodden in Bootle, Anfield, Speke, Garston, Norris Green - even Toxteh there was little lasting benefit beyond minimum wage jobs in said emporiums. Plus privatised security firms have the right to turn whom so ever they wanted.
