  • Looks lovely, inspired me to think about doing the same (few years to plan it out.)

  • Oh this is beautiful!

  • and weirdly she gets toe overlap. Presume it's bad habbits of foot placement plus a small frame.

    small frame/short top tube = toe overlap

    Loved it thought, wish it's my size as the frame look fantastic.

  • Lovelly stuff, how are the Tektro 556's performing? i justordered a set.

  • nice, love it!

    As well as I could expect, being as they were pretty much the only choice at that drop. The front flexes a little but in relation to the style of riding it's of no concern. Pads could do with swapping out cause I like really gummy quiet braking but then it's not my bike so why am I even thinking this ?

    Though every time I get ready to ride mine I yearn to just put some nice miles on hers. But sexual boundaries are exactly that and I will NOT cross them. Untill my knees pack up.

  • it's a gorgeous build, colour scheme is exactly what i'm thinking for my road bike.

    although i do think you should go honey on the bars, looks great now but would just pull it together :)

  • I ridden with the 556, ridiculous amount of flex, but it'll stop you with confident.

  • Not sealed but figured progressive grubiness would darken them to complement the seat. But I did read up om shellacing including how to match Brooks honey. Having said that they're were 8 quid. I'll double check and see where it takes me......

    Cork grips + shellac = slippery!!! Don't do it. You are right that a bit of grubbiness will be fine. Lovely bike!!

  • retro MKS pedals seem to be awfully popular for this sort of "girfriend" bike. However I think in reality they are pretty impractical as they dig into the soles of trainers and slip with shoes. They are designed to be used with clips & straps.

  • I'd think the MKS Touring pedals would be a much better choice, wider platform and better grip.

    The bike has MKS Touring, as per the build list. Though I agree they would be better with clips and straps as that would negate any slippage and temper the overlap.

    I mentioned clips to her, her response is not suitable to report at this time of night.

    Tell you what too, them bars are flexy as a bastard. Guessing summat a bit simillar in Nitto should be stiffer.......

  • So that what it was? I thought DFP was talking about those;

    Nitto will defintely be stiffer, I have the Albatross, and they're surprisingly stiff and look real lovely, very expensive nowadays sadly;

    Having said that, I run a threadless set-up with a steel stem, reckon it's worth putting a different stem on to see the difference or is it defintely the bar?

  • So that what it was? I thought DFP was talking about those;

    The sylvan type ones are even worse, as they are designed to be used with old school slot cleat cycling shoes. They really dig and offer little "platform".

    But even the touring ones are slippy, and dig a fair bit. Especially if you are wearing the two most popular styles of shoes at the moment. A: something plimsole like B: a leather hard soled shoe

  • The latter is definitely incurably difficult to ride on.
