  • Obviously they cannot draw a bezier curve then convert to fill with foreground colour in the eye dropper.
If your going to cheat at least do it properly.

  • hahah would rep

  • All I can say is, I wish I had those MS Paint skills.

  • Paint 4 lyf!

  • Machining of the teeth is pretty different

While the forensic data analysts have had at the images to prove that what they sent is not what they advertised, the forensic metallurgists might wish to compare the description "CNC Hardened Steel" and "accurately machined" with the obviously stamped, and in all probability soft, sprocket you have in your hand.

  • Is there not some sort of regulatory body that Velodrome Shop can be grassed up to? Surely there’s enough people have written in this thread about being screwed by them and the problems are getting serious enough (misrepresentation, false advertising and such) that such a body would take note, and hopefully, action.

  • I fell for this as well, I binned it!
It's definitely not CNC, more like stamped.

  • Just a little extra to this. That sprocket looks identical to the ones that come with Novatec track hubs. I've got a few in my parts box because they used to come as standard on complete wheels my old work sold but they'd bin the sprockets because they're crap.

  • exactly what i observed...

yeah, the wannabe elite cog looks suspiciously similar to the cheapo novatec that came stock with my langster years ago. therefore i'm not even willing to get out the chain whip and skrew it on...

  • Ah, I missed that.

  • Had a look at their online form, unfortunately only useable by residents of England and Wales.
Since I'am German, no chance for me.
If it wasn't for that rather small amount of money (not worth the hassle), I would probably take legal action...

  • European small claims court would work. Best part is they'd have to fight it in your local court not theirs

  • Hate to say I gave them my attention before reading this...

Ordered several parts from them on the 18th may. Got an email confirming payment was taken but not email corresponding dispatch etc... emailed them on the 23rd asking for eta and tracking . Got an email back on the 26th, they said there were delays due to Covid - fine i'll bite. and they just said it was shipped on the 19th via Royal Mail 24 which is a next day service.

emailed back on the 28th asking whats going on and got an email 29th with a much heavy copied and pasted info from the Royal Mail site. Michelle (Velodrome shop) said due to delays its late and it should arrive within the next couple day (she was certain).

Its now the 2nd June and its not arrived, so I've emailed back and asked for a refund.

I understand that Covid may have influenced delays however I've seen our Royal Mail delivery driver everyday posting RM24 stuff.

I've even got my njs that was shipped from japan ordered the same day last week...
I certainly won't be ordering from them despite their prices.

I'd say pay a bit more for less stress.

  • I thought I would add some details of my own experience with Velodrome Shop.

My first order (a Miche chainset, bottom bracket, and sprockets) I had no issues.

However, my second experience (in 2017) was similar to FlowRider's (with the cog). They seem to make a habit of photoshopping pictures and posting misleading descriptions:

I ordered some Velodrome Shop Coloured Track Wheel Nuts. After receiving them, I sent this email to Velodrome Shop:

I have just received this order. Unfortunately, the track nuts you sent are not the ones I ordered. You have sent me some Halo alloy axle nuts. The track nuts I ordered are "Velodrome Shop Coloured Track Wheel Nuts". I ordered these track nuts because I wanted plain black track nuts with integral washers and no branding.

In the item page on your website the "Velodrome Shop Coloured Track Wheel Nuts" are described as "chromium plated steel track nuts" with "integral serrated washers". The Halo track nuts are alloy, and the washers are not integral. In the picture on your website there is no Halo branding. Although I notice the picture on your website is actually a picture of Halo track nuts with their branding removed:

"Velodrome Shop Coloured Track Wheel Nuts": vs

    "Halo A-Nuts":

Can you please send me some black track nuts that match the description on your website. If you do not have any "Velodrome Shop Coloured Track Wheel Nuts", then please refund me the price of the track nuts (plus return postage if you want the Halo axle nuts returned).

The reply (from the famous Michelle):

You have received the correct product for the item ordered, the only difference is the logo. I am very sorry that the small Halo logo is causing an issue no alternative product is available sorry. It may be possible to colour over the logo with a black marker for aesthetics as the logo is obviously very small but we totally understand if this is not an acceptable solution and will happily email you a freepost returns label so that you can return the item for a refund. Please let me know how you wish to proceed.

    Regards

    Michelle

    To which I replied

    Dear Michelle,

The product sent clearly does not match the description on your website. It is not the case that “the only difference is the logo”. The axle nuts I received are aluminium rather than steel and have a separate washer rather than an integrated washer. Your suggestion to colour over the logo with a marker is laughable.

Anyway, please send a freepost label so I can return the item for a refund. Note that I will not be able to return it until I get back from overseas (on the 18th of January).

So, I was sent a freepost label, and returned the item. When I had not received a refund 15 days after confirmation the item was received, I contacted them again to find out what the delay was.

    Their response:

We have now located your return and made the refund today, it will be showing back on your account within five working days. Apologies for the delays, there was no documentation with the return so it could not be ascertained which order/customer to refund.

Thank you for your email, please let us know if you require any further assistance.

    Regards

    Michelle

Since I had provided my details with the return, I responded:

I was fairly sure I wrote my details on the shipping label.

To which there was no reply, though I did receive the refund.

  • I can't understand the effort they go to, badly photoshopping products when they could easily chuck the product on a piece of paper and photograph it. It makes me wonder if they're just an ordering service and don't actually have any physical stock at all.

  • To get money back into your account I was thinking to just contacting the bank and raising them up as fraud. It kinda is.

  • I think that is the case, I mean that would justify why the deliveries are so uncertain and take so long.

They were 100% that but now may not even be that legit.

    Edit

  • Laughable. @Velocio is it worth it / possible to Pin this? (or just a gert big banner saying don't shop at Velodrome shop on the Homepage)

  • is it worth it / possible to Pin this?

Anybody with their wits about them will do due diligence before ordering from any new online shop. There's plenty to put people off on the first couple of pages of google, including this thread. Anybody not doing due diligence won't be helped by pinning this thread.

  • That's very assuming; AE86 literally said they wish they had seen this before ordering.

  • So much this

If something on the internets is too good to be true then caveat emptor. There are a number of bogus online retailers who just undercut genuine shops by 5-10% which seems to be enough to make people take a punt.

If it’s my first time using a vendor I aim to check for online reviews and feedback and pay via a method where I can obtain a refund if it goes awry.

  • Everyone who's had a bad experience with then should post on Trustpilot as that comes top of Google

  • AE86 literally said they wish they had seen this

He'd have seen it if he had bothered to look. There's a limit to how much you should try to help people who won't help themselves.
