If you Google their contact address it's actually a third party e-commerce company called DMS who handle their and lots of other company's "logistics'.
VS looks like it's just a e-commerce storefront with none of their own stock held at all or dedicated staff.
*edit*** confirmed in the blurb, VS use DMS's "just in time" stock handling service aka "we hold no stock**"
makes sense!

as a contrasting point I ordered a Token track frame and it arrived 4 days later, no problems. No shipping confirmation email, only one after the courier had marked it delivered.

i would also like to add my negative experiences with velodrome shop...
item out of stock, didnt think to tell me?!
emailed, took 2 days for response, no number to call, not the best experience!
Basically this. And I'm still chasing for the refund. -

Same for me..I think the problem is like the guy above says, they don't actually hold any stock
I ordered dugasts which he told me were hand made for each tyre ordered.. Yeh sure.. Dugast don't make any in advance!
Brooks cycles hold identical stock and more, and are a real shop

I've just received my refund.
And with that concludes any business between myself and velodrome shop. -

I had to wait 5 weeks for the delivery of a chainring from these guys.
The first excuse was that Royal Mail lost the package even though according to the (awful) tracking system the package never left their depot.
They said the policy was to wait 30 days before asking for a replacement but they were SO KIND that they sent me a replacement straight away. This was after 1-2 weeks. The following 3 weeks were spend in reading stupid excuses about the item not being in stock. Maybe. Maybe it was. No wait, it was not. And so on...It's a pity because the prices are quite competitive indeed.
Strongly suggested to avoid them anyway. -

Made quite an order with them consisting of 5 different items, I wonder how long I have to wait to receive them. I'm complaining already in anticipation of shoddy service and it's only been 10 minutes since I ordered.
You guys fill me with confidence. -

Or so I thought.I received an email on Friday which stated:
Within the next few days you are due to receive a complementary free pair of our own brand 5Bling Gloves as compensation for the problems you received with your recent order from Velodrome Shop
The email continued in that vein for a few more paragraphs.
It doesn't change my opinion of them but at least it indicates that they are attempting to salvage their business' reputation. -
• #35
you wont receive them. You will email, and they will say "oh sorry royal mail lost them let us send them again." Then you won't recieve them you will complain and say "I don't want them any way". A week later you will recieve an email saying "we are giving you a complimentary 16t sprocket for all your previous problems... " (repeat)
perhaps the item will get more and more valuable each time

Believe it or not they arrived the same day as the email.

It's good to hear they offered that though. Anybody had any good experiences with them?
I've got a week off work and it coincides with me finishing my build, just need the EAI Gold Medal cog and Izumi Super V chain I've just ordered from them, I hope to god it comes. I've paid the extra for the 24/48 hour delivery. -

Believe it or not they arrived the same day as the email.
I suspect their customer service representative may have found this thread and connected my email address to my username.
Further to the above I received an email offering yet another pair of gloves in either a different size or colour without having to send the ones I'd already received back to them.
Whether I would use them again is open to interpretation but they are trying to correct the negative experience I had. I've never come across an online shop doing this much to correct a customer complaint, especially considering that have received a full refund I've technically never spent a penny with them.

They are the worst - I've ordered a few parts from them earlate last year, I was after the leather 5Bling gloves but I added a few cheap parts to the order to make the P&P charges seem less harsh.
Surprise surprise, the 'half price' gloves were sold out (although still showing as available on their website even after they contacted me) and in the end I could only get 1 used 15T sprocket for which I paid £5 + £3.50 P&P.
After waiting over 3 weeks for that one sprocket to arrive, they finally said that 'it was lost in the post' (I think they never really sent it) so they got another 15T used sprocket back to me (I wonder how many used 15T sprockets they stock).
After another 3 weeks later, no sign of the second sprocket they sent. Another 'lost in post' apparently.
Best part of 3 month down the line, I finally receive that bloody sprocket in the shittiest used padded enveloppe, covered in brown tape.
So... My advice, avoid at all cost!

I got an email supposedly they are sending me free gloves too. Not received yet however.

I got the same email and my gloves arrived a few days after.

I can add my voice to the chorus saying this shop's service and reliability are appalling. :-( Unfortunately only found this thread a few days after ordering, when my frameset still hadn't showed up. Paid for 48-hour service and a week on, still waiting. Customer "service" people can't even apologise or explain the delay - the delivery date just keeps getting pushed back.

I wish I'd seen this thread before ordering from these guys. I ordered several parts for a friend's bike I'm servicing over 3 weeks ago. I waited 10 days and nothing arrived so I contacted them. They told me the cranks I ordered was out of stock and they were going to wait until December, when it came back in stock, to send everything. Of course, I asked them to remove the cranks, refund me the difference, and send the other parts. Another week went by and nothing arrived so I contacted them again. They reckoned the package must have been stolen in the post and they'd send another. I finally received a package this morning and the BB they were meant to send me is missing. AAAAAHHHHH!!!!

They told me the stolen package story as well and it was clearly a lie.
I wonder what Royal Mail thinks... -

Damn, I just ordered something on Monday without looking up about them pr seeing this thread. Paid for 24h postage(/48h). I should have known these people are flakers it seems too good to be true. I needed the brake I ordered ASAP, not in a month. Will be sending them an email....hate the fact they dont even have a number. As everyone else has said, AVOID. I'll update my experience with them later.

Just seen this thread in time, was about to place an order for over a grand's worth of stuff from them.
Did kind of wonder when I inquired about the headset on the Cinelli Gazzetta (pic shows threaded/quill, info says ahead) and I got this reply,
"Dear Ande,
Thank you for your email,
The bike comes with a Threaded headset (http://www.velodromeshop.net/index.php?p=product&id=611)** [This link is to an internal aheadset by the way]** and 31.8mm or 26.0mm A-Head stem/bars. [the page for the bike has an option of crankset but not for bars]
Please let us know if you require any further assistance.
Regards
Michelle"
Annoying as the prices are pretty good. Though having said that, the Fuji Feather was on a pre-order special for £350 and jumped up to over £450 the day after I emailed them a few questions about it.
Feel bad as I'm working in the velodrome in Glasgow and had recommended them to a couple people already as the prices were good. Will be steering people away from them from now on.

I bought a Cinelli Gazetta from them last year and unless Cinelli have changed it for the 2012 bike, it is very much an unthreaded Ahead set up.
However, as you have seen above, be very wary of their proposed delivery times dates etc. Also, if you are making a saving on the cost of the frame from other suppliers, make certain that you really are buying the 2012 (or whichever you think it is) before confirming the order.
For my dealings with them, I had understood that I would my new kit within about 5 days and ended up receiving it over three weeks later. I had sold my old bike in the meantime and was reduced to the ignominy of slumming it on public transport in the interim. The terrible delivery people also failed to deliver on the said date and I took a day off work to receive a delivery that didn't arrive. All in all, quite unsatisfactoy.

I think the image they have of the bike on their site has been shopped together from several other images.
The Fuji was pre-order for delivery in January but it sounds like whatever I ordered from them I'd be lucky to have it by then!
i would also like to add my negative experiences with velodrome shop...
