If we were to value Scotland what would a fair price be?
It might just have been the ravings of a swivel eyed UKIP MP, but I seem to recall that if you take the North Sea out of the equation Scotland is a net cost to the UK, so it might be a positive to get rid of it whilst there is some oil left.
EDIT/ a bit like Hong Kong- we could give the Chinese a 100 year lease.

A fair price for Scotland, are we going to value it like a business as a going concern.
Just so you know the Scots say England is making a net loss and the Scots North Sea Economy is contributing heavily to keeping it afloat.
Its all just bollocks.

The last set of figures from Holyrood statisticians show that for 2008-9, Scotland provided £1.3bn more in revenue than was spent north of the border. At less than 1% of Scotland's GDP, that's not a huge surplus, and it does include a due share of North Sea revenues. Strip out crude and the deficit goes up sharply, to £10.5bn (or 9% of GDP).

So, if we include the North Sea, we should be able to sell Scotland for ~£5Bn, that's not going to make much of a dent in the costs of RBS collapsing.
