  • Always.

  • Personally i would be packaging up Wales into CDO's right now, encouraging my customers to buy them, whilst at the same time insuring myself against those CDO's failing by taking out betting on them Failing with Scotland.

That way when it all goes tits up we take em both out, and can sell Northen Ireland back to the irish in order to recapitalise, then lending that to the French

  • On a serious note if anyone wants some serious reading on whats going down right now, take a butchers at this - warning, this is not lite reading

  • Whatever you fucking bell, the passive-ironic racism that floats around here is really not that much different from the real thing other than the fact you couch it in a pastiche to make it appear more acceptable. Jews, Pikeys, Spades! Hahahahaha. However do you stop these fucking comic geniuses from smirking at other people long enough to get any work done?

I agree, I don't think this sort of attempt at a 'joke' ever works.

    right back on topic
    nice idea
maybe your log / alias in should be goldman sachs

  • The xenephobic fuck ends like you lot I encounter in daily life go a long way to making life down here deeply unpleasant.

If you were trying to sell England (which based on Cameron's hapless governance and continued Thatcherite fixation on revenue from the City rather than any form of production might be necessary when market collapse arrives) you'd have to give any potential buyer a significant discount per gormless Jeremy Clarkson wannabe in the country, most likely resulting in a deficit larger than any Scotland has managed to run up.

    Cunts.

    Top quality ranting here Chompy

  • Well at least we have considered the fact that Scotland might be saleable.

Buying England would be akin to buying an A reg Ford Sierra Estate from a man in Canvey Island then wondering why it was shit.

  • I reckon a management buyout by the Scottish would be the way to go, all the SNP need to do is to get it valued, then borrow the money from some VC's, pay Westminster and it's theirs.

Maybe an IPO in 3-5 years, if they can get Scotland firmly into profit by then?

  • Or, to make Chompy happy, we need to look at the profit and loss for Surrey, and establish how practical it would be to disentangle it from the rest of England.

I think an issue would be that a lot of people living in (say) Guildford and the surrounding area work in London, so where would they pay tax?

  • They all evade tax anyway.

    #satire

  • Well, going to much smaller administrative areas would give plenty of opportunities to do things differently, so for example in our new People's Republic of Surrey we could have no income tax, but tax gravel drives at £3,000 per foot, and Range Rover Sports would have a 4,500% VAT rate, and a 5,000% import duty.

  • i'd happily let Surrey go it's own way
float it like we did to the Isle Of Mann and Wight, they used to be counties just outside London till they were naughty

  • Getting rid of Woking would be a massive win in anyones book.

  • In the mean time we will continue to enjoy free prescriptions north of the border and other socialist measures meant to distract us from the cold, the wet and the drunk.

don't forget the shortened life expectancy and the crap fried food too

    We win.

FYI Scotland in recent years has been the ONLY part of the UK to return a budget surplus and has done so for the last 30.

    /becausewe'retightfistedinnit

  • i.e. when the Brent field was discovered in 1971?

  • Oil & gas revenues from the UK waters in the North Sea go straight to the crown. They therefore are not seen on the Scottish balance sheet.

  • Bobbo you in Scotland?

  • Fair enough- where are you getting your figures from btw? I only did a cursory search, linked to the Grauniad article up thread- they included oil and gas revenues in their figures to come up with a surplus, without that it was a deficit.

  • No London, but 1/2 my family are from Deeside and the other 1/2 from Peebles, I was born in Edinburgh and went to school there.

Don't know any exact figures am going by what my cousin has told me he is an economist, used to work in the Scottish Office now a consultant. If you would like to do further reading I'm sure I can ask him to recommend some reading for you.

  • Ha ha.. I live in Edinburgh and play for the Peebles 1st XII hockey team!

    Small world.
