  • bollocks, just been reminded of this ride by my phone calendar goin' off. Hope you all have a super ride while I enjoy my tedious meal at a restaurant to celebrate bro-in-law's 53rd. Just to make it worse, I'm having to drive even though I'm the only one who drinks!

    Sorry, just so bollocking annoyed!

    #notfuckinfare #bollox

  • ^ Sorry you won't be with us, Ian.
It has to be said we don't have the snow of last year's epic, though.
Whilst I don't know your brother in law. I suspect that for him, as for me, a 53rd birthday probably ranks lower in the celebration league than Creasoting the fence.

  • creosoting the fence ... now there's an idea, maybe i can set up some arc-lamps and talk him into creosoting the fence instead tonight and then I can come along.
    #bitofafuckin'longshot

  • will join you all at LMNH at 7:15- happy happy happy! John, I don't have a number for you? will ask Julia?

  • Oh ah ... just caught up on this, I think we're going to stay cozy and warm, have fun chaps.

Scherritt, I'll sms you John's number.

  • don't talk to me about christmas balls, these are the one's we're puttin' up

    fer real?! no way...

    diwali was weeks ago

oh so you've had you're 53rd birthday then? i knew you looked older than 45

    :P

  • wow john, what a blast.
i've never ridden down so many one way streets the wrong way and on the pavement so much!
to end up in a restaurant with a meal and beer waiting was totally awesome.
sorry to split early but i was done.

thanks to all for the company and john for leading the magical mystery tour.

great to see you all and catch you all soon.

    merry christmas.

  • Brilliant ride, thanks all for a great time! Very happy to be able to keep up and now home safe, sound and warm! Will see some of you soonish on Waifs and Strays....

Special thanks, John- I saw a lot of London that I have never seen before. I really hope someone has pics?

  • Firstly, sorry to Hinata for not making it to phase 2 of his birthday!

Huge love to John for leading such a fun ride. It was a pleasure and a privilege as always.

Great to have Steve out too...has been too long. Looking forward to plenty of rides in 2012 old chap.

Nice to finally meet Scherrit too...hopefully see you at the track next year...

  • ^ +1 to all of the above, it was epic.

John, how you managed to sort that ride out I'll never know - you are like the Ray Mears of one-way streets fairy lights... or something!

Special props too for seeking out London's slipperiest decking which surely triggered the first ever LFGSS tandem bike breakdance battle?

  • Did he take the long way again?

  • Needs photos! (sounds like a great ride)

  • Cheers John, great ride. I'm sorry to have missed out on the first half but work/life/laziness balance just wouldn't allow it. But the loops upon loops of Chelsea and Westminster were great.

Many highlights but I think for me struggling for traction on the climb up primrose hill will stay with me most.

Not much photography going on as far so recall, dark and chilly meant we tended to keep rolling. I have one pic of the Hyde park fun fair I might get round to posting, but it's rubbish, phone camera not up to scratch.

  • did it stay dry? it was raining most of the evening where i was up in stanmore

  • I think the best thing was that when I asked everybody how far we had cycled at the end, estimates ranged from 20-60mi!

I still have no idea where we went.

Riding down the other side of Primrose Hill at 1.30am on ice with no lockring was one of the highlights for me.

  • Sorry I didn't make this ride, I had to be at work at 7 this morning and didn't fancy staying out til 4 or whatever.

huh? there must be better ways to shave some grams. ask Neil

  • he was making up for the heavy freewheel he cant take off

  • Its no laughing matter. That rear wheel weighs 200g more than it needs to at the moment.

I've only just woken up as it took me so long to get to sleep last night worrying about it.

  • Just remember our chance encounter with the Diplomatic Protection Group on Kensington Palace Gardens. Why he didn't enjoy my jokes about being gun carrying drunk cyclists I'll never know.

  • I'm afraid I am too supid/lazy to make these smaller, they're the only ones I took.

A completely different ride from last year but we took in so much more...Point hill was a great viewing point. I enjoyed that stretch through Greenwich even it was a little isolated, although the return leg through the wind and wet of Canary wharf was also good fun. I think Motcomb street had some of the best lights, but they were all pretty good. The little push up primrose hill was great, with the reward of the low moon hanging over London at the top.

I loved all the little pathways and back alleys we took, turning round dark corners, never knowing what to expect on the other side...fantastic. Good riding with you gents. It's always great to ride in a tight little bunch around the streets at night.

    "Do a Tron!"

Still not sure what this means. Although I think the punters of Gaucho were satisfied with my efforts.

    • all of my posts in this thread -

htfu, please...edscoble would make less of a big deal about this!

  • I think Michael and I were joking mate. I've got more than 200g of belly to lose before I get serious...

  • It still applies...
