DublinKev does but I have it. Will chase up Dean to finish with them if you want to ask Kev if you can borrow?
Thats fine. Give it to Tom when Dean is done with it, I'll get it from him sometime. Let me know when you've passed it on.

Anyone have a large wrench I can use to remove my Euro BB? I think it's about 34mm, I'll check
I have a mahoosive adjustable in the workshop

Thanks Kev! Joni, I can collect so you don't have to lug it around.

Does anyone have an opinion about Look vs SPD for polo? I stupidly just bought clipless shoes off the forum that fit me great, but are 3-bolt by mistake. I can probably get cheap Look pedals, but I notice everyone else seems to be running SPD...
-
• #57
Hmm, Look's plastic cleats might make for some intersting "dabs"...
-
• #58
One sided pedals? Crazy.
I would suggest that will seriously slow your game down Tom.
And what landslide said ^. Those cleats are a bit slippy so you could be in trouble if you do foot down.
Will attack the stuck crank this weekend and give you a shout matey. -

i once played in road shoes with spd cleats, was a nightmare. it would be worse with those look ones. very unpredictable when footing down and can be dangerous towards yourself
-
• #61
But then the cleat would still be exposed. Road shoes don't have the grips on the sole that makes the cleats slightly recessed as mtb shoes do.

I played once in road shoes with look cleats...
The slipping on road shoes isn't nice... But one sided pedals was way more of a disadvantage to me.
I'd used them on the road for a while beforehand, maybe if you Tom are totally at one with your look pedals and have been using them for years then go for it. Otherwise no.

This is what I was thinking. I was just hoping to salvage the situation after buying the wrong shoes, but actually clipping in is probably the going to be the worst part.
Now, some people play in road shoes, not just MTB, right? Or am I crazy to even consider that?

I've always been an Eggbeater man, actually. Looks like I'm putting Looks on the touring bike now though.

Stick them back on the forum, someone will buy them for the same price I'm sure.
CRC have some cheap ish shoes.

Haha, Ok, I get it, Looks are out.
And yes, I also see what you're saying about road shoes being slippy; I'm just trying to gauge HOW slippy. Like, "inconvenient, but justified because now you only have to own one pair of shoes for all your bikes" slippy or "Tom, you're a moron for even asking, just HTFU and buy some 661s" slippy.
-
• #67
I don't think the slippiness is that bad actually... Although it may be worse on indoor courts like Cambridge. And also it's when you are most at the edge of balance that it would be worst.
If you can't afford new shoes but can get mtb cleats on then I wouldn't say you were mental.
Also if you wait till January all the 2011 stuff will be well cheap, I got my (admittedly very clunky and heavy) spd shoes in January for about £25.
But if you can afford to own two pairs of shoes do it... It's the same rule as bikes...
-
• #68
...or why people are so concerned about slippyness...
Because if you're dabbing, then the chances are you're already off-balance. To compound this effect with shoes and cleats that are far from ideal for walking in, let alone suddenly stabilising yourself when already out of control seems (to me at least) perverse. -
• #69
It's obviously not ideal.
But nor is it insane.
-
• #70
So you've got something against them as well then Chris? Tsk.
I don't have anything against them, I have a pair, for my road bike.
Have you ever worn a pair John?
-
• #71
Yes, I've seen plenty of people play in road shoes.
I'm not sure what Joni has against them, or why people are so concerned about slippyness, if you are down, you are down, who cares if it's then slippy...
Sure, if you had the choice now, get recessed ones, but I wouldn't change them until you've tried it out, and decided you don't like it.
Who plays in road shoes? This seems ridiculous to me.

The extractor threads on my crank arm on the poo bike are stripped. Anyone have a ball joint puller or something else to pop it off? Or a handy trick?
Take the crank bolt out, ride around the block a few times 'til the crank comes loose... This is the smirk horatio method, tried and tested...
