  • Painted to match the bike?

Can't wait to put down a deposit for my stem as well (quill).

  • Greetings Ed,
Entre nous - yes white with gold Oak logo on left hand side - oh yes!!!
I saw your bike again last night - it is such a beauty...
    Peace and love,
    Tim

  • here is my totally awesome Oak polo frame. Ryan designed it around what I felt I liked on a polo bike (similar to the 14 bike co V1 polo bikes) and what he'd seen in my game. It has a lower BB than some to give it more stability and a light but not too light front end. He built it with 631 tubing that he had heat treated by Reynolds to order to make it specifically sturdy for polo. The seat stays are seriously beefy to ensure the damage that a polo bike gets on court. This badboy is strong...

This thing is so responsive and literally turns on a dime, is insanely stable which gives me the ability to come out well out of sittuations on the polo court that would have seen me falling off on my last bikes, rides like it was built for me and is an utter joy to ride. Still need to play around with the stem and seat height abit (hence the surfeit of spacers on the steerer).

Best money I have ever spent on a bike, EVER

  • a few q's Ben: Is your rear wheel laced 1x? and what is the wheelbase on that?

Looks ace in the flesh btw!

  • Greetings folks,

Not sure about the wheelbase but its pretty small, ideal for polo, ask Ryan for specs. The wheels themselves were laced radial by jono but i got em for a song so im riding them till they die and then lacing them 3x

  • Happy birthday Ryan!

  • I'm looking around at places in London for a custom frame and have had a recommendation for Ryan @ Oak Cycles.

Can anyone who has gone all the way through the process reply with how long the whole process took, and if they were happy / would they recommend.

  • 6-12 months depending on the build and how soon you place a deposit, very very happy with mine.

  • you gotta wait but its worth the wait

  • 5-6 weeks here... Would get another without any hesitation...

  • 5-6 weeks here...

2 years ago surely? his waiting list is a lots longer nowadays.

  • Does he not mean he's had it for 5-6 weeks?

  • Might have even used it once or twice.

  • Zing!

  • I would suggest that asking Ryan would be a good idea- I talked to him today and he's been giving some thought to projected build times and how these will be defined and communicated.

All we can do is give you old information- which I suspect it would be an error to base future expectation upon.

  • Good things come to those who wait.
I have my dream bike courtesy of Ryan.
    Peace and Love,
    Tim

  • Greetings and love to all fans of Oak,

I have entered my bike at the Vulpine / Kinoko best bike in London competition which is next Sunday in somewhere called Hackney.

  • To those who made a load of posts in here, without knowing circumstances, based on speculation and rumour... regarding Dammit's commission... go check that thread and leave this one alone.

  • Ryan was nice enough to help me (struggling student journo) with a piece for an assignment. It's cheesy and very simple, but thought some of you may be interested in having a read...

    Nice article. I enjoyed it.

    Just one question;

McCaig’s customers are, generally, demanding middle-aged men with bachelor lifestyles.

    Dammit or Teenslain?

  • cant be TS, says middle aged .. isnt he much older

  • I like the sound of having a bachelor lifestyles.
