Sure ditchling is possible fixed, just not on 74gi and hungover... made it most of the way up but had to stop to avoid puking.... on 66-68 should be easily doable.
Enjoy.

I sort of did ditchling fixed a few weeks ago 70gi, with a two minute breather half way up

ditchling is possible fixed as the recent fiddy ride proved, my winter bike is single speed, only because i love descending faster than i can pedal :) we need a rider list, start rendezvous, time and route.. count me in should be back in london, if jake is coming to town i'll collect him from victoria.

hello hello. sorry, did not notice there'd been so much action since i last checked.
I was hoping we could discuss the route on here. i have never done this ride before but i guess i thought a lot of people on here would have done it many times before.
personally, i'm up for the horrible hill as i like the feeling of my thighs popping through my shorts. but if most people want a nice relaxed ride to shake those christmas cobwebs then i'm happy for that too.i do think we should meet early, get as much of the light as we can. Rob, what time does the old shorditch station open? pre-ride espressos? then once in brighton eat a big meal and then focus on some drinking?
i'm still yet to purchase my wintage jersey. i should do that.

Would have loved to have done this - I have even bought my own wintage-style jersey off the 'bay. But I will be working. Boo. Will wear my jersey on the 29th have have my own wintage-commute, with a couple of laps of the col de vauxhall bridge to try and recreate some of the Ditchling fun. Unless cough I'm not well that day cough and can't make it into work cough cough. Have fun!

that's amazing.

Am working on this - have suggested I could 'monitor the situation remotely'. From a switched-off mobile phone in my jersey pocket. What time are you planning to set off? I'm in Stockwell /Brixton so think I could pick you up on they way.
-
• #43
i favour 0900hr departure from central rendezvous after coffee and bagel..
then 0930hr stockwell/brixton pick up, roll from there -

Might be up for this, will confirm closer to the time. Fixed ftwintage.

I'm quite keen to do this too. Is it still on the 29th? Perhaps a moderator could amend the title with a date.

I have just realised that I still don't own a wintage jersey.... or any jersey for that matter. Guess I'll be doing it in me civvies...
-
• #47
^just do it.. it'll be winter, so you'll be donnng many layers, vintage jersey or not and get you name on the list please.. if you get stuck i'll bring a jersey for you :)
i'll be wearing my andy hampsten rapha jersey and praying for snow conditions to match passo di gavia, or something like this http://www.lfgss.com/post2459747-43.html
