So?

I will check with Velocio about the practicalities of his suggestion for an auction to sell the frames and what I would need to do to make it work out in every ones best interests.
Surely a blind auction with a set format.
Make a full proof listing with all the details, then give each frame a lot number, and ask people to PM with the details in the subject line.
ie -* "Raleigh Track Frame #3 - £199"*
Monitor the thread, and request all questions are posted there.

Thanks for your patience !
Not heard back from Velocio yet but if there are no objections I am planning to take his suggestion and ....
The Auction will open on the 27th of December 2011 at 10am and will run for 7 days to the 3rd of January with bidding remaining open 10 minutes after last bid (no sniping).
I will post the info in the for sale thread and link it from here when I have written out the details. The frame will be the 61cm SB 4634 one described in the thread, depending how that goes I will sort out the others after that .

I think you should make a new thread for each frame, it will keep it obvious who wants what and how much each person is offering.

to be honest, I don't much care for this blind auction idea. I understand how it's beneficial to the cause, but still...
-
• #85
thought it was a normal auction?
-
• #86
I don't much like blind auctions either, it's like buying a house in Scotland.... :-(
Apologies for that , I copied and pasted the wrong text in to the box, it's been put right now so as the bid goes on the forum and a copy with details to the email so as I have details of who is bidding and can respond to any questions if needed.

Am I the only one baffled by how and in which thread you bid on this?
-
• #88
No.

• #89
I'm also confused as to how I am to bid, should I find a sock full of cash somewhere.
I believe that I put my bid in one (maybe all?) of the threads currently about this, then email Allister?

I can't for the life of me remember the name of the coach who ran the session for us but if it was you Allister thank you very much!

Updates on this: http://www.lfgss.com/thread77540.html
I have put some snaps for the 61cm frame number SB 4634 up on Picassa here :
https://picasaweb.google.com/trackkitforsale/TiRaleighTrackFrameSB4634
These are the picture straight out of the camera of the frame on my kitchen radiator. ( no image adjustments !)
The top tube has a slight dent 8cm back fromm the head tube on the top tube just under the "G" on the Raleigh which is hardly noticable, but it's there when you run your finger along the tube.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-4wncJnJLafM/Tux_sfC1yWI/AAAAAAAAG74/hKYwXbtgkII/s800/P1060862.JPG
There are no other dents or dings on the tubes.
The BB, seat pin and stem all came out of the frame easily and the threads are in good condition.
This is a frame that has never been used in the wet but it has been in a damp bike store so there is a little superficial corrosion on the paint chips.
Top tube centre to centre is 58cm
Seat tube centre to centre is 59cm
Head tube is 18.6cm
The frame weighs 2056g and the fork is 832g
The frame has not been cleaned up or polished at all so it may look a bit better once it's had a bit of TLC as it's not had much of that the last 30 years !
I will contact Velocio again to see if we can sort out the sale details.
Allister
