Getting properly excited now! Picked up hired bike pod from Cycle Surgery, and just back from a gravelly tow path ride on the Guerciotti which is running like a dream... Arriving Gaiole around 2pm Friday and intend to be quaffing Rosso Di Montalcino at Jolly Bar around 8 minutes later. Have eaten well and cheaply at Galleto Brianco in town over the last few years and might well head there Friday night, all welcome!

All packed up and ready to go. Flight's at 7.30 in the morning. Don't think I'll be able to sleep much tonight.

I went to a plumbing shop (plumbcentre) and blagged them... They are for insulating pipes..... Ask for 28mm ones, and they fit steel tubes perfectly.

'Team Hounslow' has two representatives entered for L'Eroica, myself and Jeff Marshall.

For the ride I have a traditional Hounslow racing jersey: mainly white with red, white and black (faded to dark blue in my case) rings. We both have silver Gillots, mine is not 'restored' (tatty paintwork) and has a Simplex TdF rear mech and rod front changer. Jeff's is newly refinished and is campag equipped.

Hope to speak to some of you in Tuscany.

I will be mostly riding a very green Mercian, and my buddy Patrick will be on a Gazelle which is mostly white ish... Have spent way too long packing them in bags, and fretting over all manner of probably completely unimportant things...

Hopefully see some of you over there..

Had a nice ride today too, might have passed you unknowingly JD, I wasn't wearing my lfgss cap but a helmet, first time for sure I did 70kph on a steel bike ;-)

Ran into some Germans on Gazelles in Gaiole, market was already 3/4 up. Fetching my starting permit tomorrow around noon I think. Maybe see you guys there?

I will be there around 9ish to get my registration as I want to avoid the queues and go for a ride.
