  • take mine, I can't make it,
pm me if you want it

  • Not long to go now before the off. Driving down again which will be fun after a dozen cans of what ever energy drink I can get my hands on to stay awake on the journey.
Tilover will you be at the cafe next to the entrance to the market again? Or is it the usual jolly whatever it's called bar?
And any one doing the 135km route?

i think the cafe next to the market entrance if they put it in the same place again on the friday/saturday then just by the water fountain down from the pizzeria on race day... we'll be setting off at 5.30 am i think then collapse with a beer when we make it back

  • How about wearing lfgss caps for recognition? it works cause that's how tika and junoface spotted me last year :)

  • Quick thought
5:30 start - what are people planning to do for lights?
(Probably don't need period correct lighting...?)

  • headlamp or cheap leds will do if you're in a group, easy to stuff those into your pocket or give away when the day breaks. but if you want to spear ahead or your nightsight is sub average you should get something with a proper beam

  • i'm taking an exposure enduro because i have shit eyesight + i don't own an lfgss cap am afraid :(

  • I'm using my ay-ups with a headband....and I'll have the Lfgss cap on :0)
I've finally decided on my tyres for the day....25mm paselas with gumwalls....spot on.

Here it is the other day on the flitch way.....which I have an strava KOM on!

Still got to put bottle cage on front and remove the gaudy gold one...

  • you know you don't need the colnago post don't you? It's completely wrong. Wrong wrong wrong

    swap for my Kalloy?

  • Ha!
I can't, unless you want to swap the matching chain wheels hanging in my garage? ;0)

They'll be going back on for Italy!

  • i am on a blue de rosa. no lfgss cap owner either. i want to meet peeps the day before

  • i will probably be wearing a black 'House' jersey and sporting a 'tache on the saturday tika - just message me if you want to meet somewhere specifically
(+ my name is tom), i'll be with tonyme, 105champ and my brother (who looks like me but a bit older)

  • anyone need a race entrance i got one spare ! was down for the 135km but sadly work has come up ..........for once !

  • So, the last 2 days have been spent fine tuning my clips/pedals/shoes... Having never ridden with shoe plates properly before, it needed some work! I was really worried yesterday, I was doing a swift ish (for me!) 50 miler and my left knee was really hurting... I worked out that I was pointing my toe in a bit more than I do with spd's... When I pushed it out a bit, I could get rid of the pain by pulling up on the pedals... But then my left foot would shoot out of the clip all the time!
I think I've cracked it now though.. But I still can't pedal as smoothly as I can with my sidis.... Are they absolute sticklers for the ' no spd 'rule?

  • Starting the 200k at 5:30 if I can tag onto the LFGSS train (probably won't be around for long - I'm reckoning 14-hours to complete it). I'm taking my 1200W light, so could be handy to ride alongside in the dark! This is me on my Ellis B at L'Eroica two years ago:

I'll be wearing my LFGSS cap around Gaoile the week before, so say "hi"

SPDs are a complete no-no, Stedlocks. At the start line last time, someone with Look-clipless had his number removed from him. They only check for downtube shifters, non-aero brake cables and clipped pedals.

I've got a spare Velo Orange bottle cage (was going to put double cages on, but not enough room) if anyone wants to buy it. The clamp is a bit modern but not obvious; buy an ali water-bottle at registeration & you're away. Let me know and I can bring it to Italy.

  • this is what I'll be riding, my new old dream bike is almost done (I have to get a long enough chain and adjust brakes/gears/saddle etc.) it's a 1970's Gazelle Champion Mondial with Dura Ace groupset:

    more pics here

  • Thanks northern, I've already decided I'm going to do it properly... No cheating!!

Very lovely Peter.... I look forward to seeing that in the 'steel'!

My knee is spot on tonight.... I must have adjusted enough. I'm in the shed at the moment, making my new chav bottles look old!

  • Just logged in and seen my ride number.......2003 he he .....(relief)

  • Tony, how do you find that out?

  • a bit hard to find, but here's all this years lucky ones:

    http://www.eroicafan.it/images/percorsi/elenco_iscritti.pdf

watch this number, thought I spotted him last year too:

    104 MOSER FRANCESCO

Rini (Marinus) Wagtmans, Dutch cycling hero from the olden days is also there, and probably some more.

  • Nice one Peter!
3294..... Look out for that one struggling like a motherfucker!!

  • cheers :-)

    I'm #1159

  • if anyone has a spare ticket going i've had an offer for lift down.

been feeling sad about not going this year - so would love to get hold of one now!

There are usually places to buy at the registration area roughly around 80 or 100euros each.
I wouldn't advise taking someone else's place as A- You want have insurance so incase of anything happening your right royally f****d. B-you'll have to have some i.d of the person registered.

  • 4281 for me, i saw moser last year - pretty rad.

  • Francesco i hope
