  • ^^^Got pretyy bored and skipped through, didn't see anything to do with Dickies?

That's the subliminal marketing bit that you don't notice. :)

  • Carharrt lost it when they went the street wear route.

  • I like the Hideout stuff, have ordered from The Original Store, good service, price seems good and the narrow fit trousers are happy days for casual riding: http://www.theoriginalstore.co.uk/33_Dickies-x-The-Hideout

  • @ OP and why do you want to know ?

I'm doing some work with them and wanted to gauge opinion on their clothes amongst cyclists, both casual/commuter cyclists and purely fixed riders. Because it seems to me that their clothes have a good reputation for being very tough, not stupidly expensive and generally well made. So, ideal for city cyclists.

If they did some cycling specific collaborations similar to what they're doing with Hideout (or the Japanese numbers) but for the UK I reckon it could be interesting.

  • Dale wears them, nuff said...

  • And only a skateboarder will truly know how tough clothes are, and dickies are pretty tough.

Yeah, only a skateboarder will truly know...no one else...

  • Let's ask MaxC, then.

  • Never heard of him...

  • Ah, but he knows you.

  • Yeah, only a skateboarder will truly know...no one else...

not even people who were workwear, not even them, the people the clothing is designed for,
    not them
not them buy a long shot

  • Let's ask MaxC, then.

    MaxC.... legend.

Try TFG, I'm almost sure I've seen Dickies there. (<Not a euph)

  • The cut isn't amazing but they are the only trousers whose crotch hasn't split due to cycling.

  • ^ Compared to what Hobo? And what if the cut were more cycling friendly like 3/4 length slightly higher at the back of the waist, slightly roomier around the thighs, maybe a light loop above a rear pocket. Just thinking out loud.

  • ^ Free R&D?

  • ^ Cynics >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

You of all people should know better than to piss on the spark of a thought before it gets a chance to live ;)

  • Hobo speaks the truth about them not splitting. my lee, levis & edwin jeans have all split from cycling.

  • I cut down an old pair of dickies work pants from my Skating days and made em into shorts, perfect riding shorts and still hipster if you roll up the cuffs ;p

  • Let's ask MaxC, then.

    Never heard of him...

    Ah, but he owes you.

    MaxC.... legend.

    Fixed.

  • They're awesome. Several pairs of trousers and my longest ever lasting hoody.

  • I remember when it was all fields buying Dickies workpants to skate in for a fiver a pair in the Q Shop on Coldharbour Lane, it was a fantastic cheap vintage clothes supermarket.

I don't mind Carhartt's new fashion direction as it allowed them the spare cash to pay me £XXX for a couple of their collectible Tommy Boy Records jackets I had for their archive. ;)

...about something that is already made. Lol.
OK, in Japan, but I'm sure it can't be that difficult to get some.

So you know for a fact the Japanese shorts are cut differently and not just 3/4 length versions of an existing short (like more room around the thighs, maybe double fabric in the crotch and slightly higher at the back of the waist so you don't flash your arse crack when riding) and have a light loop?

I'm not thinking about buying some I'm just thinking about what Dickies would do if they made clothes more orientated to cycling. Similar to what they seem to be doing in Japan but easily available in the UK...

  • Dickies make me think of Henry Rollins
