OK the rules may seem a little ... complex but it's pretty straightforward really.
Bad Santa:
- all attendees bring a WRAPPED gift, to an agreed value - perhaps £10.
- everyone is given a number (randomly selected from a hat)
- in number order each person may open a gift, or steal a gift already opened by a preceding player (<obviously doesn't apply to player 1).
- if player has been pinched from, they may pinch another, or open a further gift. Only when everyone who has been in play has a gift can the next player start.
- a gift may only be stolen 3 times. We'd use little dot stickers to keep track of that.
I'llgo through this on the night: The main thing is, everyone brings a gift - of equal value wouldbe nice.
- all attendees bring a WRAPPED gift, to an agreed value - perhaps £10.

Skully, get the people buying presents, I believe presents should cost not less than 5 british pounds and not more than 20 british pounds. Gives a decent enough range, and means there should be a nice range of pressies on offer.

For presies why don't we do bike parts rather than buying stuff. And if we have to buy what about donating to a cycling charity?

Pisti, grab a pass and come down, we don't discriminate against those who live north of the river..

dancefloor, have we met?
what you say is probably in jest, but your issues/jokes/feelings about london's provincialism, isn't South's, everyone's welcome, from whichever part of London they call home, or whichever beers, they normally frequent.
I say this because what is mentioned in jest, especially on this forum usually transmutes into some sort of accepted fact, and I'd rather nip that sort of shit in the bud, than let it grow any further..

My comment was made in Jest Cornelius. Apologies to anyone who would think otehrwise. I guess my sense of humour has a time and a place, and this thread clearly fits neither of those dimensions.

dancefloor, figured it was.
I have issues with perceived london factionalism, and I try to take no part in it, london born and raised and all of london is my playground. And this forum has a reputation for being unfriendly, and many feel inhibited about showing their faces at them. So I'm kind of quick to make sure that throwaway comments about where people should or shouldn't go aren't allowed to stand unchallenged..
look forward to sharing South's Christmas with you and Pisti...

OK how about we all bring a component... I like that. Less cash involved.
No ringers please, all bring a decent enough thing. Cog, pedals, cap, levers, bars, rims, watchu got that you wouldn't mind passing on? Could be an ace way to make the possible 3 'steals' sort of consensual - 'i.e. ah no I only want 70mm BBs thanks ...'. So instead of buying to a certain value, we can bring a part that's worth £10 ish or more. Sound OK?
Bad Santa can be a lot of fun!
