  • Very nice! Aside from the excessive packaging (which I'm pretty sure weighs double the kit inside) it is a lovely piece of tech really. It does feel exceptional.

The stuff we got today as the AXS bling. Much DUB hatred, many new gimmicks (clutch is nice) very wow.

  • Oooft, didnt notice it was the AXS stuff! Just the tramps 11 speed etap for me today. Think I'll always be a generation behind with electronic shifting. Will buy AXS when sold heavily discounted by german online retailer.
Have totally got over price of AXS dropper post now though... Shouldn't be long until sold at 30% off retail

  • I don't think you have to wait too long to be honest. It's niche enough and the market is stupidly competitive that retailers will fight for buyers.

It's 'already' at 2.3k but apparently the actual RRP is supposed to be 3.3k.
Is it nice? yeah. Is it a couple ok grand nicer? absolutely not.

  • I’m only teasing. In fairness on the flip side I don’t have etap as I can’t find the set I want at the price I want...
Do you need a Di2 seatpost? Only I’ve got a fizik Carbon one on my single speed...

  • I’m trawling eBay for a carbon post just now. Are most round seatposts not di2 compatible?

  • This has a strange metal bit at the bottom to hold the battery I think...

  • You can get plugs to hold the battery in or seatposts ones that will take the circlip that comes with the battery.

  • Are there any whispers about whether Force etap will have an integrated PM?

  • The AXS quarq one seemed quite reasonable, relatively of course

  • It’s £625 but I think you’ve to pay extra to have the PM activated. Cannondale have been doing this with their FSA units. Cheeky fuckers.

  • £2,300 is the 2x system RRP without mechanical parts (chain, cassette, chainset and bb),
With these parts included (excluding BB) RRP will become £3,315 and with PM £3,760.
1x setup will be around £600 cheaper.

  • £625for the force one?
AXS is one piece, maybe not so reasonable after all!!

  • AXS. It’s not bad if it it’s £100 to activate the PM but if it’s another £300, it’s less attractive.

  • Sigma have it around £1000, it’s one piece though so you can’t transfer the power meter...

  • Does it definitely not fit past the rivnuts? How deep are they and can you file them down a bit?

  • Di2 has a special charger but that charger can be plugged into any USB source.

  • you could also carry at least 4 extra batteries for the size of the di2 charger block.

    Really?

How big are the SRAM batteries?

  • That doesn't look like you'd get 4 batteries for one Di2 charger.

Can you ride the bike while charging SRAM batteries? Presumably it doesn't need both FD and RD plugged in to charge? Di2 you can ride while it's charging and the shifting works immediately from flat to plugged into charger.

  • Can you charge direct from dyno? Or best to go to external battery first?

  • Yup, sorry 6700 shifters/mechs, 6800 chainset and brakes. Its the 6700 stuff that sucks/do not like as much as newer stuff. Though going electric gets around the main issues I have (bad internal cable routing).

  • Both. I have USB cables (Igaro D1) from the dyno on the handlebars. If I want full power lights though I will use a battery.

  • Roughly about 4:

The Sram charger is probably bulkier than it needs to be, but if you carry 1 spare battery (which is sensible anyway on long trips) you could charge it on the go. Also depending on use, FD battery is likely to last longer, and you can swap it to the rear with the front staying on on of the rings in a 1x arrangement if you run out of battery.
