I just have regular eTap. I did consider HRD for the cross bike, but the cost of new rear mechs fails my ‘only race what you can afford to replace’ rule.

I might go for this option too. I'm wondering what type bars you're thinking of drilling? Alu Carbon? I think @Señor_Bear had luck with drilling Alu bars.

I have a set of nice carbon superlegera rs bars I'd like to use. Wondering if I could drill a hole in the bottom of the drop just in front of the back of the junction box.
I wonder if drilling carbon at the back of the drops is certain death by structural failure.

That's what I did with another bike with the junction box hidden inside a stem with an open front plate to make things neat.
