have a look at the different junction boxes.. bar end, under stem, bar top mounted....... once you figured out where you want your junction box with charging port the rest should be easy to figure out.
And do you want to use the second shifter as well? (since you don't need it for 1x)

Not even looked into the junction box things. Will need to research this.
Did see XT Di2 SC-MT800 System Information Display which looks interesting.
Second shifter won't be in use in this case.

I have the display too, older version I think, I have configured mine to upshift on left shifter and Dow shift on right.
-
• #2682
Oooo... I'll need to pick your brains on shopping list and setting everything up, that sounds interesting
-
• #2684
or use the left shifter for your garmin/wahoo/whatever..

Any thoughts on whether it's better to wait for the newer Ultegra 8070 Di2 shifters or snap up the older R785 shifters? Probably hard to tell since the new ones are not available but I'm wondering on whether to hold off seeing as I've got to wait a couple of months till my bike frame arrives.

• #2686
If the new 8070 are anything like the 9170 I was playing with fully set up the other day, wait. Wait as long as you can.
The new gen Shimano road hydro shifters (at least the DuraAce) are sublime. The modulation is rim brake like with no squishyness - if they look the same and have the same feel under braking, but are just less titanium innerds (usual DA->Ultegra difference) then they’ll be very much worth the wait.
They’ll likely be a lot more expensive than R785 though. -

Thank you

You really don’t need that bastard big and ugly 70’s display stuck awkwardly on your bars. Use internal wireless module and you can have all that on your Garmin anyway.
P.S. Amey will try and build you the bike he wants if you entrust him to shopping lists

• #2689
I'd wait. I'm looking forward to replacing my R785 with DA or the new Ultegra one day.
-
• #2690
Ah, didn't know you can have that display on the Garmin. That would be good, one less thing to have clogging up the handlebar

Shitthebed that’s spendy
I can’t have spent much more than £800 on all the bits for my group.
Wait till thats in UK online retailers it’ll be £1500ish
-
• #2693
were you asleep when Brexit happened? It'll be £1932
-
• #2694
Well for a start star bike advertise it in £ at £1700ish so, no, it won’t
-
• #2695
And no - I was busy very quickly/frantically pulling out of a fucking house purchase!!
(Near you down there in Brockley actually) -
• #2696
Ouch, maybe I'll stick to the R785 and spend some of the money saved on an extra wheelset
-
• #2697
This, along with the fact my Open is post mount, made for the logical step to make use of CRC BC discount and good prices in bagging the R785 Shifters and XT rear Mech for under £600.
The XT Di2 rest mech has since gone down in price even more! -
• #2698
Or travel to EU to get it, spending the difference on a nice holiday.
-
• #2699
Saw the r785 with 805 callipers for £420
-
• #2700
I paid £380 for that combo last year.
They're £434 at the same place now.
Well done Brexit fuckwits.
Right, I have a question now, rather than an answer...
I need to internally route my hydro cables and there’s no chance of doing it with the existing connector end, plus, the connector is the ugliest thing I’ve ever seen.
I’ve ordered a replacement rear hose in 1700mm flavour to avoid the connector bollocks and would like to know how/what I need to do to route both my front and rear hydro cables through my bars and frame....
I’ve overcome one fear with tubeless - I’d love to be able to do my own hydro.
Is there a particularly detailed guide or video someone can point me to?
Also - I guess I’ll need a bleed kit?
