There is an 11-34 11 speed Mtb cassette that will work with 10spd hubs, and the new medium cage ultegra rear mech can work with it too.

• #2428
Ultegra mech, shift buttons, battery pack, cateye remote.
How much
?I'm dreaming.

There's the hen's teeth CS-HG800-11, 11-34, sold out everywhere.

Chain reaction had them a couple of weeks ago, I got one.

Yeah, I'll take it off you. That's my first option to test out.

I think Shimano do a 36T and 40T MTB cassettes too but I have 11spd DT Swiss hub and I don't think they fit for some reason - too skinny or too wide?
What is stopping me building a new wheel with Shimano MTB hub for 11spd road use? Is there some spacing or disc rotor issue?
-
• #2433
Oh, wow, never knew about that. I could get one of those and mate it with the similarly rare 14-32 cassette for range and decent gaps.
-
• #2434
I found it in Shimano's Compatibility pages before they'd added it to any of the spec listings. Bit spendy though.
-
• #2435
Reckon it will work with a short cage Di2 RD?
-
• #2436
Similar price to the SRAM one, no?
Actually, no, the SRAM one is less than £50.
-
• #2437
so would XT Di2 rear mech work with Sram 1130 11-36?
-
• #2438
I have a wheel for sale that is 10speed Mtb hub.
-
• #2439
So 10spd MTB works with 11spd road cassettes? What's the issue with 11spd MTB hubs?
-
• #2440
None, it's just a way to breathe life into old Mtb hubs
-
• #2441
Are the Shimano hubs still pretty much silent?
-
• #2442
I don't know. I'd imagine they sound like a fishing reel!
-
• #2443
What sort of fishing reel? I mean, baitcast or spinning?
-
• #2444
Double chainrings are only supported with GS (medium cage) rear derailleurs. (?)
-
• #2445
Shimano say that you can't run a 32T in a short cage derailler but I do it just fine. I wonder if anyone has actually used it knows whether it might work or not.
-
• #2446
Really?
-
• #2447
Yes. That's why I asked about the 34T with standard derailler cage.
-
• #2448
The less funky shit hanging off the bike, the better.
-
• #2449
Just get compact?

I am using 36t comfortably with med cage, wanna buy my rear mech? I do you good deal.
Dont know about Shimano, but I have an sram 11-36 that will fit in an 11 speed sram/Shimano road hub.
It's only been used for 200k could pass it on for very reasonable price (few beers).
