"Late 2012", from the WW thread- which may mean 2013 here in the UK.
So UK winter, so pointless unless I actually move to Spain.

Dammit. Us Campag user dont suffer hours of extra tinkering cuz we like it. Our shallow love of asthetics demand it.
Those front mechs are nasty.
It's a thing of beauty all right:

Which one is that? Is that the new mech DA or new Di2?

I was interested, until I saw them mounted.
There's making things smaller and then there's making things too small to be practically usable.
Finding that small a shift button with bare hands when riding along flat tarmac might be alright but then gloved up, splattered in mud and bouncing about off road? I don't see it.

Thats exactly what I thought.
Sexy Dale though.

Hidden Di2 buttons..

That's quite cool, looks pretty straightforward also.

May be a silly question but do you have front and rear shifting with Di2? Or do you just keep going up/down and the computer does the rest?
-
• #241
someone did a modification for sequential shifting, but unhacked it there is still front and rear controlled by separate shifters

Interesting.
I always thought that would come along. The ABS idea is really interesting tho.

Siemens had prototype electronic (automobile) disc brakes on test over 10 years ago.
Issue is how do you make them fail safe ?

Thats fecking scary. Nothing electric has ever worked on my cars.
Although yesterday an old couple drove through a brick wall and off the top of a 2 storey carpack at Mrs Smallfurrys work. The man driving had stamped on the wrong pedal.
So human operation is obviously not full proof anyway.

Want UK prices. When's 2013 DA Di2 out? Hurry up Shimano..

on the shelf!
$639 for the hub, so call that £650 by the time it gets here, plus £450 for the shifters, £50 for the battery, £110 for the wiring harness.
Ouch.
I'd still want one for the ultimate winter bike, Di2 11 speed Alfine and belt drive.

The real surprise (to me at least) is that there will be a 8 spd version that costs a little more than the mechanical version.

And might be the better choice as I see it has a higher efficiency rating.
I'd want to pair it with a Dynamo hub up front, dual discs, mudguards and 28c tyres.
Boom! Come at me weather.
