  • 44t / 11-32t will be perfect for cx.

  • Your engine is clearly bigger than mine :)

  • It's fine.

It's actually "the same" as 46/36-12/27 which I used to ride.

  • Which olive and insert do I need for my r785 levers?

    Edit apparenty BH59.

  • Hu guys, recently bought the ultegra 6870 for a new project. This will be the first time I get into electronic shifting. Bought the whole groupset from Ribble and got them today. Installed everything according to the manual found on the shimano website. Followed everything step by step, but I have one problem.

The shifters doesn't seem to work. 3 port junction A lights up red when I hold it for 1 second but nothing happens. Holding it longer than that gets a blink red light with movement on both the front and rear derailleur. With the lights off, pressing the levers doesn't do anything. I disconnected the cables just in case they're loose and installed them again using the provided tool. Is this a firmware problem? I just assumed that it will be updated from the get go without me buying the £100+ box thing that connects the system to a PC for firmware updates.

So I have it like this, 2 levers, connected to Junction A, Junction A wired to Junction B by the Bottom bracket, battery, and both Derailleurs attached to Junction B. Doubt it's the battery as I charged it when I got it.

    Thanks!

  • Is the battery fully charged?

  • yeh. Fully charged. I reconnected every single cable, Rear and front mech works fine with holding the junction A button. But it seems like the shifters cant be detected whatsoever.

  • Or if possible, maybe I can borrow somebody's SM-PCE1, to check if it's firmware problem before I return it.

Edit: Just called ribble, they said it might be a firmware update, does anybody have them usb interfaces that connects to the pc? Apparently it comes with the internal battery system. Just want to borrow it to see if that's the case.

  • Holding junction A puts it in trim mode.

Have you tried holding a shift lever till you get a light. That's the battery indicator.

  • yeh, doesn't work at all, no lights when holding any of the shifters on either levers, no movementson the front and rear mechs.

I'll be taking the shifters and Junction A to Condor today as ribble said it's just a firmware update as 2 shifters being defective is highly unlikely.

  • I've posted my faulty battery back. Starbike have been great so far.

    Fingers crossed.

Single speed turbo workouts aren't any more fun than geared.....

  • Does sound unlikely that both shifters would have issues. You can unplug one and still use the other, or unplug a mech and use the other. It's all independent.

So both not working points to something else.

  • hehe, I think it's not the battery. Front and rear mech works when I hold the button on Junction A for the crash recovery system. Junction A lights up for trim. The shifters it seems, cant be detected by the other components.

First time foraging into electric and this is my first experience :p More trouble than a mechanical so far. Hope the experience will get better than this.

  • Yeh tried it, disconnected the shifter that controls the RD, tried to shift front mech but doesn't work, same for RD. No movements at all when I try to shift it. When this starts working. I'll put it on CP. I kinda had this crazy idea of putting Di2 on a standard steel frame without looking like a mangled mess :p

  • My experience of the e-tube stuff is that if the firmware levels are different then it won't work/won't work well.

I plug everything together on the bench, update the firmware, check that it all shifts, then put it on the bike.

You'll need the firmware updater/PC link for this - I can lend you mine, better to buy it though if you have the funds.

  • Putting it together on a bench and shifting gears is the best bit with Di2!

  • The cats do always enjoy me shouting "it's alive!" I am sure.

  • Where are you based? I have the cable to connect to a pc and am in New Malden

  • Where can I get one of these o-rings, number 7. I lost one. And my brake system isn't right, so figure that's the issue.
    @edscoble can you help?

  • Holloway, might be too far hehe, Just been to Condor, got the shifters back, seems to work when they had it. Brought it home, but still didnt work for me. Going to be bringing the whole groupset back to Condor and see if it's the whole groupset that needs updating.

  • Should be able to get them from Madison?

  • Easier to get blood from a stone than anything from madison!

  • Indeed - getting small parts for brakes is tricky at best.

You might be able to swap in an o-ring from Hope / Magura etc. Maybe worth a look.

  • Is that Madison not stocking or interested in ordering these parts for you? Giant in Kentish Town got me some parts from Madison, 9-speed brifter bit where the brake cable sits, maybe they are more common?

I could get you in touch with a German shop if necessary. Then we know whether Paul Lange is as bad as Madison.
