Biologically speaking our purpose in life is to pass on our genes, so what he's got in his right hand is the end of a biologically effective human. Loosing a hand is far from the end of the world. As anyone who watches cbeebies will know (one of the presenters is a tripod)...

I can't think of many things that can't be done with one hand (a fact polo players should probably be thankfully for... I don't think double levers were originally made for polo!)
