  • Yes! It's not a proper leftwing group if there isn't splintering. Baggsy I get to start the female caucus that likes cake, ink AND wants to ride.

Would we have to cancel rides every time the EDF (fight the power! What an idiot, I meant EDL) goes on a march? And do we all have to be trade union members or are fellow travellers also welcome?

  • Would love to join, but I'm miles away.

  • This is a very dangerous thread. Winter will soon be upon us and here you all are with your left leaning tendencies.

    Don't lean.

  • Curious when new more radical members join in and get rid of the class enemy.

  • Anyone know about getting badges embroidered?

Yes! Girl Guide link...I know somewhere that will do a fairly limited run too, say something like 50. Will dig(ger) out details and let you have them.

so what's next just apply? have skimmed forum but boss is getting pi**ed with me looking at bike related subject matter 90% of my work time.

  • Wow these lefty cyclists must be big pie chompers - the small size jersey is 40in

  • Looks like I'm going to have to split and start the "Patches and wants to ride" faction.

I could screenprint t-shirts (assuming you're referring to the size) or cloth patches. Maybe with the bike angel image?

  • either I missed it somewhere in this topic or I can't find the date for this ride?

  • I didn't read any of this thread

It was 1895, mate, you missed it.

  • 1895? Is that five to seven?

  • all I found was 4th October, but that all I found.

  • Well, I'll be wearing my Clarion 1895 jersey at Blackfriars tonight - does that count?

T-shirts for riding are a no go. Patches interest me though.

There is no date set as they will only start turning 'their' pedals once the revolution starts

Until then we capitalists were making a list so we could monitor 'their' every movement. Thanks to the obsessive list making on this forum our job is done. As a result we have begun negotiations to lay off all of our list compilers. They have immediately decided capitalism has failed them, formed a union and gone on strike.

  • I think I saw Comrade Clarion at the Blackfriars flashride. Shouted 'boots!' as customary, but it might have sounded more like 'boo!' in all the hubbub. I was riding the Foffa, which I ride to remind myself of the cruelties of capitalism and the plight of our brothers under the iron fist of Berlusconi...

  • Ah. I thought I heard a 'Boots!', but I wasn't sure in the crowd from whence it came. I managed a feeble 'Spurs!', but it may not have reached you. I rode across the bridge and back with a member of this forum - very personable and amusing chap - but I can't for the life of me recall his name, I'm ashamed to say.

Good turn out for a good cause.

  • ha.. badges, ink, branding. Like planning a revolution and wondering what to wear for the post-campaign photo-shoot!

What about starting with some rides... maybe a saunter round/out of town finishing at Karl Marx's grave in Highgate cemetary followed by a couple of beers? Been meaning to go there and check it out since I've been in London-just an idea, I'm sure there's a lot more places of interest that are topical also.

^ This. The leader of the chartists is in Abney Park, William Blake is just off City Road South, and that's just the cemeteries off the top of my head - there are lots of options if we wanted to tour important sites for the labour movement - meeting at Cable Street, perhaps?

I would have stopped to chat, but I arrived at about 5.42 and the stream of bicycles was coming thick and fast by that point! Thought it best to join the column further back. I was amazed by how many of us there were - the bridge was covered end to end - and so densely packed! I think if we'd spread out a bit more, we could have completed blocked both directions, and done laps cycle-speedway style. That might get a bit of attention - I was disappointed to not see any news cameras.
