I'm about 60 miles from Dartmoor, don't ride there a great deal. Have been a few times. There's some great riding, and pushing too, but I'm no expert.
Nutcrackers near Lustleigh is fun, and there's some nice stuff around Postbridge and Bellever Forest. Then the old railway near Princetown is nice and easy going with great views and another trail from Burrator Resevoir back up to the moor, can't remember the name of it, pretty rocky and fun.

Pizza rocks.

It does. Man, now I'm getting excited for pizza in Fort Augustus. Basically when I'm racing is the only time I can eat it if this is my new rule.

It's only 400k/day supported. Piece of piss :)

It looks as though it can get very spendy- Shu had 9 crew and 3 support cars. I'll be more budget.
-
• #914
You still need minimum 4 crew and 1or2 vehicles (I forget) and with a crew that small they would be fucked by the end of it which isn't healthy or safe for crew or rider. I think one of Adrian's Irish mates did it on a total shoestring budget and it was 10-12k.

Was joking now thinking about it.
Cant cycle but good at spending, £10K probably wouldn't cover airfares, 3 x that is realistic non? -
• #917
I see Adrian is on the Trans Siberian gig.
-
• #918
He fucking kept that quiet. Or maybe not.
-
• #919
I'm reading another RAAM book at the moment, matter of fact.
I'm just recollecting (probably very badly) what I think he told me it cost. If you can find local support people or people willing to pay their own way over then you don't need airfares.
I can't remember the figure Shu mentioned but it must've been in the "I need sponsorship" range.

Announced it on facebook.

Roping in septics is a bloody good idea actually.
-
• #922
I see.
Fuckin' Facebook.
-
• #923
I know. I'm a genius.

Intuitively the switch from supported to unsupported seems harder than the reverse, but Julianna's experience suggests otherwise? Guess its what you are used to.

It's easier to quit if there's a car following you the whole race and sympathy = weakness :)
You have some logic there too. I doubt I'll take a stove. Cold and instant is good. And yes, the more I think about it, the more I think I'll just be veggie if needs be. I miss pizza anyway.
