That's a shame, bailed on the Mille Pennines so I'm going to dust of the singlespeed and go ride the new bits this weekend with the view to turn up next weekend.
Don't mind the big trot over Cut Gate, it's Gratton I'm not looking forward to :/

Wrote a race report of TransatlanticWay: http://www.nodrafting.org/journal/2016/7/8/transatlantic-way-ride-report-pt-1
Still want to know the official results, lots of time penalties etc. I imagine so may be a bit of shuffling in the rankings.

Nice write up,and great effort on a tough route. I will look forward to part 2!

Sounds like hard work. I drove a fair bit of that on holiday the other year, don't think I'd have fancied riding it all!
@mustardbeak Part 2 is already there http://www.nodrafting.org/journal/2016/7/8/transatlantic-way-race-report-pt-2

this isn't cycling, but it's a lovely documentary on swimming the channel and couldn't think where else to put it

Watched that the other night. It's a great watch.
As much of an endurance idiot as I am (and predominantly a swimmer rather than a cyclist) I still can't get past the idea of swimming through jellyfish.

Great documentary, captures the eccentricity of the enablers and the delusions/dreams of the attemptees wonderfully. Inspiring.....

Has anyone tried to improve their hand's resistance to pressure with success? Maybe with some kind of exercise with a tennis ball or "hand press"?
In Paris-Brest-Paris and other Super Randonne events you're not allowed to use aero bars, so hand's positions are restricted to just 6-7 with normal handlebars, but the always make pressure on almost the same spots. On the 600 and 1000km brevets I was able to avoid getting my hands numb, but still some bruises appeared in the palm and felt how nerves where hurting.
I've seen Mikko (@mkpaa) doing some handstands on twitter periscope, but not sure if it was just for fun/core

I think the solution is actually to change your riding position. I took a pair of gloves on the TCR and I ended up not using them much
-
• #611
Before the PBP, we altered my position (saddle forward a bit I can't recall) to put more weight back on my arse and less on my hands to make up for the fact I'd only been riding TT bikes.
-

Agree with @bananaskid, I'd focus on position rather than hand exercise (cause vs symptom)
Before the PBP, we altered my position
Most likely saddle back a bit. Moving it forward, towards the BB, would put more weight on your hands. Move it back is like making the seat angle slacker and bike more stable, like a tourer, less responsive steering but easy to ride no hands

That's probably what I meant. I' drinking.

Saddle position is correct (adjusted by biomechanic), maybe I'll try getting the handlebar 2,3cm up (switch -17º stem for a -6º one). But also will try to improve hand muscle tone and see if things improve. Thanks!

Not what you are asking for, but I have used these before and they work so good. I'd say, train without, and then use them for events.

Finally read @xkittyx TAW race report: http://microcosm.app/out/cHEhh
Cool stuff! Sounds feckin' hard. Do you know if he's running it next year?

I want TABR and TCR to release dates and parcours, like NOW! NOW damnit!
I was going to ride LEL but it might mess with either of these events. Maybe I'll be ok if I get to race TABR '17, LEL might be a nice recovery ride. @_@

TCR always same time of year. Think TABR is too, email Nath.
-
• #620
I thought TCR moved around a bit? TABR has been early June last couple of years.
Has Nath finished TCR yet? :)
-
• #621
Nah last weekend in July. Well was last year too.
-
• #622
Shit, I could be doing this now: http://1008.pl/regulamineng.html
-
• #623
Yep it'll be running next year! Official dates not out yet.
It was hard, I kind of want to do it again as I think I can put down a much better time with the experience, and I don't think I'll be able to afford TCR next year. We'll see. -

Funnily enough official results for this year and next year's date has just gone up for Transatlantic Way. http://www.transatlanticway.com/results-2016/ (really happy to come away with 10th)
Date for next year is 8th June. -

I still want to race TABR so TAW isn't going to work for me next year but I'd love to go back to Ireland one day so it's on my list for sure. Plus it's Adrian's event and I'd love to support it.
Well done on your Top 10 finish.
