The three bags on the front have 14.000 kcal each and the seatpack another 12.000, for a total of roughly 54.000 kcal.

54,000kcal / 1930km
5 days / 10,800 per day, 7 days / 7714kcal per day
How long did Lachlan Morton take to finish?
-
• #4132
You don't need 7000 per day. I reckon 5000 is fine.
-
• #4133
I have no idea about the expected duration of the event, they were just a couple of numbers to see what his calorie count would give.

Ok, so Josh's kcal is quite easily in the realm of possibility. That's what I was wanting to get my head around.

How? Thought the ferries weren't taking bikes and Eurostar service was halted? Or was it liked part suspended?
-
• #4139
Quite funny
Once at the ferry crossing, however, coronavirus complications ensued.
“They know don’t allow for walk-ons because of covid, and I couldn’t even buy a scheduled ticket without a vehicle. So I rented a car just to be able to get on the ferry, and now I am going to take the ferry across and just park the car on the other side, which is just ridiculous,” he said. -

Yeah, those fucks. I had planned to use the ferry for Badlands and then found out the mugs at Brittany Ferries had stopped allowing bikes on.

For anyone interested in the article...

Food looks like it could get pretty boring and repetitious. Wonder if the weight distribution would make more sense in a more traditional touring set up with racks. Interested to see other setups. Filtering water from a puddle while in the centre of Manchester sounds like a form of self torture too. I like the concept of this, just have doubts on the timing due to covid.

I'm expecting half the field to be DQd after being filmed sneaking into Maccas/Greggs/Shell...

-
• #4145
She’s got a few more bags on the bike since this was taken.

650b rear 700 up front?
-
• #4147
No, 700 at each end, tyre supplier sent the yellow one, couldn’t be bothered to send it back.
-
• #4148
ah - fully expecting her to do go well on this - not her first rodeo is it.
-
• #4149
Yeah, she’s pretty fired up for this. She did Nordkapp Tarifa and TCR back to back. 11,000kms in 2 rides. She’s trained hard for this but it is a whole new ball game having no resupply en route.
They’re allowed to get water from taps, so petrol stations should be good, but they’re not allowed to buy anything or go into any building. There’s some debate as to whether a bus stop is a building.
It certainly is a new ball game. They’ve got to show all their empty packaging at the other end.
Absolutely no environmental footprint along the way. -

Any mechanical stop near a service station is going to look shady af.
is it self-appointed?
