Thanks for that. Stupid aero bars mean weird shaped tri bar mounts.
Hopefully not needed but wanted to be sure there were options before destroying the packaging! -
• #2553
Which bars?
-
• #2554
I just ordered a new hub... 2019's ultra bike build has (sort of) begun...

How can you buy the hub when you don’t have the frame? Unless I’ve missed something
-
• #2557
I'm a bike jedi.
-
• #2558
Ha. So what’s the hub?
-
• #2559
Probably a dynamo

Rear hub

Where would the risers go on those? Does the clamp separate to allow spacers to go in? Doesn't look like it and I doubt just jacking the arm pads up would be solid enough but maybe there's enough metal under them.
-
• #2562
Yeah the plates separate.
You can get these for “regular bars”

I’m seriously considering sending the aero bars back. Get a traditional handler bar and stem and a standard aero bar :-(
They are ajoined across the bottom, meaning my current Wahoo mount and light mount will become redundant...they also don’t have much by way of adjustment

I always use standard round bars on my ultra bike because trying to find accessories for aero shapes is a massive pain for little benefit. Easier to buy stuff mid-race for round bars if something breaks too.
-
• #2565
It’s frustrating as I find the oval shape more comfortable.
Do any experienced riders ride without aero bars? -
• #2566
Of course. I mean, look at PBP, no aerobars allowed.
-
• #2567
Ah ok, didn’t know that.
This one bike policy is difficult to balance!! -
• #2568
I struggle with only 7 bikes in my bedroom.

• #2569
I’m wondering if I’m brave enough to suggest a second bike!
Maybe I’ll wait to the first bottle of bubbles is finished tomorrow -
• #2570
This is very disappointing as I have these bars and have been considering those extensions.
-
• #2571
The general guideseems to be they need to be around saddle height. I can’t get that. I’ll take some pictures of you want more detail?
-
• #2572
If they don’t split so I can put risers on they’re zero use anyway!
-
• #2573
ShootBuy bike first.
Ask questions later. -
• #2574
They spilt so you could get some 3D printed but they adjoin on the bottom part no pad height adjustment either;

Could you get some cut-out pieces printed to apply to the bars so you have the flat profile on the top of some round bars? Then you have some of the comfort of aero drops and the versatility of round drops
Try Aerocoach, D2Z, TriRig and maybe smaller brands like WattShop and 51.
Or Pina

But there's shitloads of options out there already, why do you need printed risers?
