The route around here (east Devon) looks bloody awful, all the busiest, narrowest roads you could choose from. Sod that.
Also don't get the inclusion of the South Down Way. I guess they can claim a bit of gravel then, but the rest appears to be on roads. There's loads of amazing gravel stuff they could have included, but have opted for A-roads. Seems misguided and/or lazy planning to me.

Some of the rhetoric..
For the hardcore, don't take any messing about cyclist.
The shandy drinkers event
When you think of the Lake District you probably imagine boats, Beatrix Potter and picnics.
You need to forget all that stuff, that is for softiesI'm unfortunately a frequenter of a picnic on a boat while reading Beatrix Potter so I'm out, unfortunately.

They missed Aberdeen out...the wussies.

• #1335
I hate all this stuff, what are they trying to prove, of course it's not going to be an absolute walk in the park, it's 5300km, but no need to put keen people off by writing this bollocks

Pretty fucking neolithic innit
-
• #1337
it's both dumb as fuck, and it also makes the "scene" a lot less diverse and a lot more cliquey, which I am so so against
-
• #1338
The whole event is dumb as fuck. Think I'll start trolling them on Twitter.
-
• #1339
I could've done with that...

It looks nice in the flesh.

I was in Paris taking my missus to a gig. We stayed up and sent him off at 4am on Sat.
Was good fun. -

Seen him saying on FB yesterday he found it hard going through Germany not knowing if he was allowed to cycle on the road or not and got pulled over by the police for being on a road he shouldn't be on. All the money and people behind the effort, you think they would of planned that a bit better.

*goes and checks tcr route.
-
• #1344
haha, that was one of the reasons I mentioned it, as I know TCR might have this issue in Germany this year, I think Hungary as well if you choose to go that way
-
• #1345
I rode through Germany once. Never had an issue, so didn't really consider it, when route planning for tcr. Hard to check really with no street view.
-
• #1346
Thanks. you saved me at least 4 banned cycling roads.
-
• #1348
It's almost impossible to check every road remotely and some will be blocked because of jobsworth coppers and/or other issues and require re-routing anyway.
-
• #1349
I don't have time for this shit. Can I skip both countries? :)

Argh, I only just got the parcours loaded into RWGPS. Now I need ~3000k to join the fuckers up. Maybe I should just go and ITT TABR...
Thanks Frank. Will do LEL then see how I feel about 4000km :-)
