It's approx 30 miles and is pretty flat so shouldn't be a long day at all. Here's the route map: http://www.bikemap.net/route/279148#lt=51.80352&ln=0.33714&z=11&t=0
Voyage of discovery? As long as we have suitable clothing, good lights and a bit of cash, what could possibly go wrong?

Last weekend I spoke with Sally and BianchiMasher about tagging along to this. Would it still be cool to do so? Looks to be a nice ride!

Sorry for being nosey but is there a way you could re-route to spend less time on the A1060? It tends to be quite fast and busy. Not a problem so long as you stay singled up and keep alert but given the choice I'd spend as short a time as possible on it.

good point. Looks like if we take the 2nd left off the A1060 we can loop around via Chalk End, Farmbridge Rd, Souther Cross Rd, High Easter Rd to cut a lot of it out. although I have no idea what those roads are like.
We can always call it if it seems hairy when we're there.
see you tomorrow! group save all the way!

Temperature is estimated to be between 3 and 5 degrees during our jaunt, so bring/wear enough layers especially feet and hands.

Middleofnowhere you trouble maker! I recce-ed this route, on A1060 at rush hour, in the dark. It was fine. A1060 gives for road variation & peloton opportunity. So is this a rumour that ladies are un-alert & cycle 2 wide on busy A-roads? You are mistaken.
ms.chris - defo, we got the option, let's see how we roll tomorrow & choose :)

**ROLL ON ESSEX **
See you gurls in a bit. -

Had a series of spectacular tyre & rim failures last night so am waiting for evans to open so I can get replacement tyres and tubes. How long this takes will determine whether I'm in or out but if I'm late then don't waste any time waiting for me.

I personally appreciate your advice :-)
Oh Poots. Don't stay away too long will you?
Meeting point: Inside the station at WH Smith's? The one by the Liverpool Street entrance (stairs/escalator), not any others that might be at the Broadgate end - if there is one.
I suggest that from vague memory, so if someone says I'm wrong about Smith's that's ok.
