Sounds very comprehensive. Austrian kangaroos are smaller.

you should do 6 months of yoga, some pilates, running, swimming, buy a Lance biography, spend £300 on a bike fit and post on internet forums. Whatever you do don't ride a bike and enjoy it - if you do have to ride a bike, make sure it's on the rollers... You don't want to make any mistakes here

I was thinking that you should......
Lead your life exactly as you usually do, get Chas to measure you, tell him what the bikes for, get him to build it, ride the bike, and continue to lead your life exactly as you usually do, just a little bit more smilie.
Too simple?

He may not grace us with his presence. Before we sacrifice a fixie frame to the god of braze-ons and racks.

Hello All,
On Wednesday I am going to see Chas Roberts for a fitting. My plan is to have Roberts build the frame, I will source the components and pay Roberts to build the bike.
...Chas fitted me for a custom bike about six months ago - he'll take a bunch of measurements from you and speak to you in relative detail about what you need the frame for.
I also went across there one of my other bikes, and he measured parts of that too to confirm things (then phoned me up the next day to tell me that the saddle on that one was probably two cm too high...).
I'd trust him, mine fits like a glove.

Roberts have many years of experience building custom bicycles.
Don't rush the consultation. Take as long as you can, and ask as many questions as you need to. The process is really fun, and Chas or Brian are very knowledgeable and helpful. Above all, trust them to fit the bike to your needs.
I have 2 beautiful Roberts frames. My wife has 1.
My Track Bike
Made to Roberts' spec, using the eclectic mix of tubes he prefers. Giving balance weight and stiffness. It is a beautiful machine, stiff enough to sprint on (badly) and comfortable enough to take in as many laps as the coaches throw at me mst Saturdays at Herne Hill (lungs/legs dependent). It then takes me home in style. My Road Bike
I was a little more demanding on this one and insisted on a full Columbus Life normal diameter tube set i.e. not oversize. Including the chain stays, which I was advised against as Columbus Foco is their preferred material. My decision was based purely on aesthetics. This is a beautiful light frame, which is extremely comfortable and fast. I do complain occasionally about it flexing a tad. Perhaps I could have gone for oversize (I weigh around 85Kg). I am very happy to ride it as often as I can. It is beautiful! My Wife's Light Touring (Audax)
This was fitted and built up purely to Roberts' spec. He specialises in this kind of bike. Again. it is beautiful. I can't comment on anything besides the quality and thought put into the componentry, which is his special mix of Shimano, Campag and Stronglight. I wish VeeVee would ride it more.Above all, enjoy your experience. The result will be a superb bike that (most) carbon junkies will drool over.

can vouch for the fact that both Jaygee's Roberts are beautiful bikes. Particularly jealous of the road frame

Jealous? You want want JG to ride you furiously, and criticise you for being a bit flexy? Wierdo.

Some really useful advice, I felt much better after reading people's views. Chas was great, Reynolds 853 frame will be mine in 2 months.

853 you say? you've definitely made a mistake there, why the hell didn't you ask for advice here first?
